Good post. I have also noticed the highlighted part. You don't usually hear fans give fighters so much criticism for not fighting the top opponent available in their 2nd fight at the weight and first fight after winning the title.

Oh, and for the record I am actually not peeved at Cotto for fighting Geale at all. He had one voluntary defense, to fight who he saw fit within reason. Geale is a top10 guy. I may have poked fun at the fight being at Cottoweight a bit but hey. I pretty much shut up about Cotto for a good while.

My peeve, is now Cotto has made it crystal that he does not intend to fight GGG even if he beats Geale. That my friends, is utter BS and inexcusable if Cotto wants to call himself Champ at 160lbs.

If Cotto/Canelo is a superfight, and one that needs a 160lb belt at that... so big that the business aspect trumps all...

THEN COTTO SHOULD NOT HAVE ****ED AROUND, AND SIGNED TO FIGHT CANELO WITH HIS VOLUNTARY DEFENSE.

    Its really pretty simple.

paper chump Cotto is a disgrace to the lineal mw belt

That been said, I hope he wins this fight

just so I can see him beaten to a pulp by Canelo or
leaving the ring on a stretcher against GGG afterwards

    whatever comes first

Kovalev has a mandatory. The guy he's fighting has been sitting in the backburner since he won the eliminator. Hopkins was supposed to fight Mohammedi instead of Kovalev, but the IBF (I think it was) gave him the opportunity to unify instead.

Now, Kovalev has Hopkins' belt and has to take the defense or vacate.

I agree with the rest, though. No one has been giving Brook sh!t for fighting Gavin and Rios. I'll give him Dan since it was a mandatory AND Brook was coming off surgery.

What makes Cotto a punk, is that he used his name to steal the title shot against Serigio Martinez that GGG was in line for.

Upon winning he has simply refused to face the man everyone knows is the rightful top dog of middleweight in Golovkin. Claiming that triple G hasn't faced any top names when he cut him off of from the opportunity and now himself continues to deny him is getting old fast.

I have lost all respect for the coward named Cotto. It's obvious that he is terrified of Golovkin. He should be stripped ASAP.

It doesn't matter what Manny says. It won't detract away from his accomplishments. He's still the only 8 division world champ and will remain the only one for a good long while. It's not like Manny is ducking anyone. He'll get in there with anyone. Heck, that idiot would probably get in with Golovkin if we asked. That's the kind of warrior he is.

I don't see how Mayweather is getting love. I see him and Manny getting bashed equally. It is what it is though. Both of their next fights will take a hit. It's whatever. Mayweather should retire. He has nothing else to prove, and Manny should go back down to 140 for a few more fights so he can still go out on a high note.

Cotto should give up his belt. It's pretty much known that Golovkin is the 160 champ and that's too big for Cotto anyways.

Conveniently, Golovkin will be out of his prime by the time he's accumulated that "value".

Wow. Even questions about Golovkin make Cotto run away.

I'd shove Cotto's big melon head up his ass if I met him in person.

You are attempting to come off as a voice of reason but in reality you are just a Cotto apologist. I was a fan of Miguel for a long time, have his poster on my wall FFS, but I have no problem saying it loud and clear : Cotto is ducking GGG. To make matters worse, he is doing it in the worst way possible: by badmouthing him, directly and through his trainer.

Cotto has no business being a lineal middleweight champion if he doesn't fight at middleweight and does not want to face his mandatory challenger, opting instead to fight a man that the said challenger clubbed into unconsciousness in 3 rounds. That of course comes with a catchweight clause.

As for Kovalev, he fought Bhop and Pascal back to back, after winning his title from a champion in his own backyard. He could fight a scarecrow for all I care, he deserved it. Cotto fought a badly injured Martinez that cashed out and sold his belt and his good name to the highest bidder.

I'm not going to bash on Cotto since he is never backdown from nobody and the guy took on all comers like Mayweather, Pacquiao, Margarito, Trout, Mosley, Judah, Clottey, Martinez, and the list goes on. He's at the point in his career where he is going to make as much money as possible being the A side (That was Mayweather calls it !) and head line the promotion. Let's not forget people that Cotto is getting up their in age (34 going on 35) so he's looking to collect and take the least amount of punishment as well. He knows fighting GGG would be suicide for his career since there is a good chance he is going to end up in a coffin and possibly end his career. He's riding high right now and he want's to continue that and he rather fight Canelo ($$$$$) than take on GGG. Remember fighting Canelo is better business than fighting GGG.
