By Bob Ryder/Photos: Bob Ryder Friends, fans, supporters, and former champs of the Kronk Gym gathered on Wednesday night for drinks, dinner, and boxing as Emanuel Steward hosted a fundraiser at downtown Detroits Motor City Casino. Miguel Cotto flew in at his own expense and helped raise some funds by donating a signed pair of gloves for auction. It is a great pleasure to be here in Detroit in Emanuels hometown, for this important Fundraiser event of the famous Kronk gym that has help develop the talent of hundreds of kids and taking them out of the streets and teaching them the values and respect for their teammates, said Cotto. Its a real honor for me to be part of the legacy and the family of the Kronk Gym. Kronk champions of the past Thomas Hearns, Milton McCrory, Hilmer Kenty and Jimmy Paul were all present to help keep alive the Kronk name that meant so much to their respective careers. A short amateur card featuring Kronk fighters versus opponents from Canada and other local clubs closed out the night. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
Very cool. I think that Cotto being part of the legacy of Kronk and Steward (no matter how late in both their careers) is special. Hopefully their relationship can extend Cotto's life as a fighter.
Man Cotto is just a true gentleman. Even when he retires from boxing, I think we'll all be hearing a lot about him
It looks like it and I'm pleased to see that. I don't think Cotto is nessecarily past his physical peak, so it wouldn't suprise me at all if we have yet to see his best career win. I think he beats Williams and Martinez at 154lbs, which would top beating Mosley at 147lbs.
WTF is up with Cottoe's mohawk? He looks like one of the characters off the old school nintendo game Arch Rivals. Horrible...leave that **** for the brothas.
