He would be going toe to toe with a much bigger guy. I believe he is more skilled and he could win (I've never been massively impressed with 'Nelo), but it ain't a foregone conclusion. It's the kinda fight that could take years off both. I wouldn't base such a judgement on last night's performance, however.
having a better Jab and left hook will be his way to victory not his Size. heck Margarito was a Biger guy than Canelo.
It's an interesting fight. I haven't seen anything remotely like Cotto's infighting skills in Canelo. I could see a scenario were Cotto get's in Canelo's grill, works those bodyshots and uppercuts and doesn't give Canelo room to punch. It'd be a rough night for Alvarez.
Based on last nights performance Cotto deserves a big money fight with Canelo.Coming off a loss and a so so fight against Trout,I see no reason why this fight would not be competitive. Not to mention it would be very fan friendly.
Cotto looked fabulous last night but this was not a 175lb 23 year old Canelo in front of him. I love Cotto but thy way Canelo blows up, and with Cotto still not set at 154, this would be a giant in front of Cotto. I would avoid Canelo right now:think and take one more B class fight then maybe call the kid out if I was Cotto:smoke Just my thoughts:good
