Cotto, best I've ever seen. Does not do conventional weightlifting.

    Hi piece

Surley Olympic weight lifting would be a very good thing with the use of the triple extension specifically the use of hips for every movement ?

    Regards

And? Powerlifting doesn't have a lot of transfer over to sport. It can be good to set up a strength base but benching before a fight isn't going to do much for you. Your problem ROACH is that you have a very simple mind, and you don't understand the basics of periodisation. You're not credible in this discussion, so stop repeating your idiocy.

    I've already spoken about periodization.

You can do periodization with bodyweight excercises by ad******g the leverage and using more tension.

Or switching to one limb for instance.

You can also swing a heavier kettlebell and add more pylometrics, and obviously, reduce the amount of repetitions.

To focus on strength you can perform more sets, with more rest inbetween, and less reps per excercise.

It's the same thing as weights.

I'm not surprised you wouldn't feel confident in the ring after doing a weightlifting workout geared towards football players instead of doing a workout geared towards boxers.

Again, geared towards a different sport. You'd get very little carry over to boxing from this workout.

butch in boxing you need explosive speed coming forward it helps in cutting off the ring and counter fast boxer like Roy Jones the best is that it helps in pressure fighting. Something that you'd know from being on line. I'm from the UK so my knowledge of American football is nil, however if its similar to rugby the fastest will hit hardest. Great thread btw!

grid iron style "football" training did require weight lifting but a large part of the training was sprinting and agility drills. Agility drills 5 days a week. I did play football and box at the same time ( afraid to see an MRI of my brain nowadays ) but I went from being a 171lb lt heavyweight to being a 188lb heavyweight in about 2-2+1/2 years.
