Great fight, although very disappointed that Cotto quit as soon as he no longer held the upper hand. If anything was exposed Saturday it was Cotto's fighting heart. This is kind of ironic because it was AGAINST Cotto that a lesser fighter in Paulie Malignaggi showed the heart of a lion to continue trying to win till the bitter end despite some very nasty injuries and virtually no chance of pulling the win out the bag.Once Cotto knew he wasn't going to win,he became a bottle job.:-(
Hi Dave, long time,no 'see'.:good I think thats harsh.Margo was like a killer robot that couldnt be stopped; It just got too much for Cotto, who was physically, mentally and spiritually destroyed until there was nothing left to give. I wouldnt call it a "bottle job" mate.
Did you guys not see the Sugar fight? 9th round Cotto lost it and kept cycling back, the only reason he survived was because mosley wouldnt put pressure and kept on getting hit coming in. Plus Sugar was tired as hell, Margo had the conditioning on his side.
I was watching the stream and I think it was his corner that threw in the towel. I must say Cotto wasnt mad which most fighters would have reacted. I think its either he just flat out gave up or they were thinking live to fight another day..I mean this was a great fight. A rematch this year is highly probable
WTF...Paulie would had quit before the 9th round versus the Margarito who fought last saturday dude....
What a lot of stale urine this thread is. Cotto quit as soon as it wasn't going his way?! I can't even be bothered arguing against a pile of elderly ladypish. Enjoy your splashing around fellas.
I think Cotto fought 2 rounds past where he was thinking of quiting by the 9th he was basicaly running for his life his heart kept him till the 11th Damn those slow mo shots of him getting smashed by Margs was sick especialy the 1st punch where all of Cotto's blood flew on the camera
He was dead tired, got his nose busted early in the fight and was literally breathing from his mouth for a long long time with his nose literally blocked/damaged, kept fighting and still taking punches right on the nose/chin and got a cut on his eye. That's not a man that quit, that's a man that was broken down and just had nothing left to offer, he could barely keep his hands up in the end and was finished off. You want him to stand there and keep taking to impress you then end up like Jeff Lacy or Meldrick Taylor then you would come and say "Ahh, he's finished, let him retire". Easy to type that with a dildo on your chair behind a computer, try to do it or think wisely.
I think the problem most people are having with this fight is that they gave Tony no credit early on. Tony landed some very hard shots early and Cotto was troubled by his nose like from round 2. And his eye about the 4th. It was a very rough fight from the opening bell.
Ha ha, fair enough mate, if you stay on this you are on a raft and not drowning in the yellow ocean that these ****-ants are.
There was a point where they showed Cotto in his corner and they were trying to give him water and he looked like he wasnt able to drink the water his mouth was busted to bad. Cotto took alot of damage that wiould have sent Floyd home by the 5th
DOnt talk about Cotto's heart. The tank was empty. Thats it. You're on a car with an empty gas tank. A truck is coming right at you. I would jump of the car. Thats is what Cotto did. Its not heart lacking, its smart. BUt yeah, i guess YOU would have stayed there...brilliant.
