Cotto: Canelo , Chavez others on Hit list !

But no, I don't think Cottos afraid of getting hurt......he rematched the only guy who really hurt him in MargoCheato.

But, he's smarter than just pissing away his title. He knows who can beat him and who can't. If the money's right, he'll give away his belt in the ring. GGG, unfortunately will never command that kindof money.

The casuals still don't know GGG, and it's not like KOing Geale is gonna get him on Sportscenter or FSN, unless there's some kind of tragedy associated with the KO, and no one would want to see that.

Alvarez and Chavez Jr are consistently talked about in the Mexican media, where HBO and Showtime are also distributed. Cotto knows that if he signs to fight Alvarez or Jr that he'd get large PPV #s because of the buys by Mexicans, both American and nationalist, and he would even increase Puerto Rican buys due the Mexico/Puerto Rican rivalry started in the 70s, and even before.

Cotto is 33, and has the wear on him of an older fighter. His wins over DRod and Serge were impressive, but how many more Sergios are there he can fght, or DRods now that he's a titlist. And how many more fights does he have left.
He could give Martinez a rematch and make some bread, and he's got the mandatory in Rubio which could go some ways into rebuilding the Mexico v Puerto Rico rivalry for Cottos title. Those are 2 wins he could get before defending against Alvarez.
Those 3 fights would generate more $$$ from the casuals than a GGG fight would and it would be his last as a MW titlist.

The smartest, most rewarding route he would go, would be Bradley in October ending his partnership with Arum, then Sergio rematch or Rubio in January letting GBP or Dibella copromote, and then fighting Canelo in May on the Floyd Pac undercard.

GGG just does notmake financial sense for Cotto....no matter how soon GGG is recognized by casuals....he's never gonna get a shot at Cotto.:think

 

Cotto is not an undercard fighter, neither is Canelo. Thats not how it works, and it will never happen.

I doubt Rubio sells better than a GGG fight, even with the rivalry. Golovkin is actually known among casuals and increasingly so, he has the highest TV ratings of any non-PPV fighter (counting JR here as a PPV guy because his next fight is almost certain to be PPV) and actually does get press outside of dedicated boxing press.

Canelo is obviously a bigger fight, but a couple things. First it would never, ever be on an undercard. Rather than say even, say especially a Floyd undercard. Theres a thousand reasons for that. Second, there is the HBO/SHO issue. Oscar has indicated that a Cotto fight would have to be on SHO, Cotto has said he intends to finish his career on HBO.

Thats not to say Cotto-Canelo would never get made, because the fight is probably the second biggest money fight in boxing behind PAC-Floyd. But there are business impediments, so nothing is for sure.

So get used to the fact that a LWW/WW coming off a loss will be fighting for the MWCotW.

After Bradley......could BE Rubio, or Cotto might wanna wait until May Pac is official and then wait and sign with Canelo.

Yes, Canelo is a Showtime exclusive fighter and yes, Cotto said he's willing to finish his career with HBO....but that was before his current deal ended. He's gotta say that so they make the Bradley mismatch PPV.

As for Cotto Canelo on Floyd Pacs UC.......no, theyre not typcially UC fighters, but when Bob and Oscar and Floyd guarantee them a 20% split of a record breaking PPV and 20 million guarantee split (12 Cotto/8 Canelo), both career high purses BEFORE 20% of possibly $70 million bucks.......yeah, theyre going to pass on almost $20 million each.:rofl
