Exactly. THE MOST ANNOYING jargon to come out of boxing in the past year is A-SIDE and B-SIDE.

    I hate it.

They are terms from the recording industry 60 years ago when they used to print record singles ... and they'd put a hit single on one side of the record and a song that was a total throw-away piece of garbage that they could never sell on the other just because they had to put something on the other side.

And they'd literally print "A SIDE" on the label on the side with the hit single and "B SIDE" on the side with the terrible song so the radio stations would know which song was the side they were supposed to play (if it was a new song or artist).

One was the song they were selling, the other was meant as filler. They didn't go together. They didn't expect you to even play the B-Side.

It makes absolutely ZERO sense when you're referring to two stars, and asking who should get paid more than the other.

When people say A-Side and B-Side in relation to boxing, they come off sounding like idiots.

They are like annoying business people who latch on to any jargon and use it constantly in an effort to try to sound like they know what they're talking about. "Let's table the complaints and let that one marinate while review the matrices." F*ck it.

The songs weren't always terrible, though.

Led Zeppelin's "Hey Hey What Can I Do" jumps to mind as an example of a stellar b-side song.

Naturally the b side always has an awesome outro song something that convinces the consumer to purchase the album and not just the single. Not sure that strategy is still relevant in today's world.....I'm gonna go listen to wu-tangs double album now and reminisce on good contraversial and innovative hip hop. Thanks😎

The point is, it makes no sense as it relates to a big boxing card involving two name boxers fighting each other.

It drives me nuts for some reason.

A-Sides and B-Sides usually related to singles (or a 45), not albums.

The A-side would BE THE HIT single, the B-Side would be worst song they had or an instrumental with no singing at all.

They didn't want to put a good song on the B-side, because they released all the good songs one at a time as A-Sides.

B-sides got such a bad rep, that some bands (when they were nearing the end) put out full albums with songs they called their "B-sides" because they were all the songs that never made their albums or weren't considered good enough to be released before.

The term B-side had a very negative connotation.

If boxers had any idea what A-Side and B-Side means, they'd be very offended being called B-Side.

It depends on where the fight is held as to who will be considered the A-side.

Cotto's got the far better resume and has been a draw for a long time and is on a resurgent rise, sure Martinez wasn't really what it's made out to be but he still did what he had to do, it reminds me of the Pacquiao vs De La Hoya duality, utter wipe out but for obvious reasons as well as his ruthlessness.
Canelo has one of the more impressive resumes around for his age, he is already a massive draw and his potential is vast. You have to give it to Cotto out of respect, he's the veteran who's on an indian summer run.

It's pretty close, but I have to go with Canelo.

Mainly because Mexico is a much, much bigger country than Puerto Rico so I think that gives Canelo a big advantage right off the bat.

Cotto is the more seasoned fighter (from a big fight perspective), which has made his fan base increase massively in the worldwide spectrum.

The crowd cheered Golovkin when his picture was shown during the fight. Golovkin is Cotto's mandatory, but Cotto is a damned coward for ducking Golovkin and was afraid to fight Geale at 160. Cotto is not the 160 lb. champion, not at all.................
