Did anyone else find this distasteful and disrespectful? Jennings was still in the fight and he was celebrating as though it was over already, I thought the fight had been stopped until he came out for the 5th! I was disapointed in Cotto for this and wished Jennings could've knocked him out. Cotto has been one of my favourite fighters too.
i dont think he was doing it out of disrespect... he was just happy to be back in the ring infront of everyone..i think it was cool to see cotto do it... normally he walks aroudn like the terminator
Yeah, that one caught my attention as well, although I though it's was kind of an emotional relief as he actually realized: "I still have it."
I noticed this too, but didn't take it the way you did. I took it as, after the loss to Margarito, not only were the fans and media speculating how much the fight took out of him, but Cotto was himself. Sparring is one thing, being in a real fight is another. And while Jennings may have not been the toughest opponent, I think this fight answered a few doubts in Cotto's mind. It didn't seem as if he was celebrating a victory to me, but more so being back in form with seemingly no lingering effects from the Margarito fight. When Buffer was announcing the decision it looked like he had tears in his eyes and sounds like he got choked up a bit when addressing the crowd in Spanish.
Hmm, I get your points, I just didn't like it and wern't convinced there was need. I'll have to watch it again. The fight was going that way from the start, he had hardly just turned the tables. I hope not to see that from Cotto again.
Cotto was just at an emotional high due to all the fan support and because he felt he performed good on his comeback. I doubt he was rubbing it in on Jennings. he is not that type of guy. Besides i thought they had stopped it. Probably he did too.
i was sitting right behind his corner and his uncle picked him up and cotto told him to put him down..but he was laughing when he did so i can see your point..he knew he had him
Cotto is about the classiest guy in Boxing. Even over Pacman because Pac always has a excuse for a loss. Cotto NEVER talks ****, is. Never disrespectful and in victory OR loss can never find a bad thing to say about anyone. So cut the guy some slack... This was like him homecoming because the P.r. Crowd support after the loss meant a lot to him.
