I was under the impression his camp did check before there fight but according to this article in the Miami Herald they didn't. Could be why Eva is not employed with Cotto anymore.

Cotto admitted that a lack of trainer oversight in Margarito's dressing room before their bout went undetected by his own trainer.

''We made the mistake of not sending anybody to check the way Capetillo was wrapping his hands,'' Cotto said. ``We didn't check. Today we can't talk about it because we didn't know what happened.''

Now don't get pissed because we have another Margo wrap thread but I never heard Cottos camp say "we never checked" till now. :huh

that's shocking if they didn't check. I want to see a quote from evangelista on the matter, but doubt Cotto would say it if it wasn't true. Certainly Margo's people would counter.

he should just put it behind him, he should know that in EVERYONE'S mind, Margo's wrap puts all his wins in a certain doubt.

Cotto should focus on his future fights and just leave the Margo thing alone. . . in the end, he lost, its set in stone, get over it.

Its not required for the opponents trainer to inspect how the hands are being wrapped.

The Boxing Commission Inspector is already in there. If Cotto wants to go with this line then he should bring the Boxing Commission into the fray - For it was one of their inspectors who validated AM hand-wraps and signed them.

    That's Mierda!
The Nevada State Athletic Commision said that the wraps were checked by the Cotto camp before the fight and ,at the request of the Cotto camp, the Wraps were again checked after the fight.

Well if he wasn't in the room, not noticing anything unusual would be prefectly feasible...

Maybe it was a common thing that wraps and gloves didn't get checked that often for bigger fights, before Margarito - Mosley.

Over 30 years since Resto - Collins(plus minor stuff), maybe the boxing world got naive again thinking everyone was on the up and up.

Well, we can be sure every pair of wraps and every pair of gloves are gonna be checked from now on. :D
