Wow. I am stunned at the utter "writing off" that Clottey is getting. Seems like almost everyone thinks he has ZERO chance of winning. I see him surprising a lot of people Saturday night. I do agree though that he might deserve to win and get shafted on the cards. :-(

How impressive would it be if Cotto stops Clottey? I know thats very difficult since Clottey has a good chin and has never been stopped. This fight is very difficult for Cotto and i believe he will get a close but clear UD but i think it would be very impressive if he stops Clottey.

Clottey is a real threat to anyone in the division, I will not be surprised if he beats Cotto at all,That being said i am sticking with Cotto by Decision, I just think that Cotto has the tools to keep Clottey at bay and win the majority of the rounds. I don't see either fighter stopping the other, unless a cut occurs.
I think Clottey will have Cotto on his back foot for most of the fight but Cotto's skillset will be enough to outbox Clottey and get the UD. This fight has distance written all over it, Clottey has a great chin and i dont see Cotto knocking Clottey down or out.
Clottey knows this might be his last time to shine and Cotto knows he must win this fight to get back in the picture this is going to be a great fight i cant wait.

good post but u forget how skilled clottey is... clottey's defense is very good and he is one of the most precise punchers in ww division.. he throws short punches that are very effective... and cotto is not good at taking punches... i give cotto first couple rounds then i have clottey chasing him towards the end with cotto barely making it to the end and getting the ud because a pro peurto rican crowd

I probably came across as a Clottey hater in my post. Just to be clear, I rate Clottey very highly, he is a superb fighter, I just think that Cotto has enough to manage Clottey's threat.

Accuracy - Yes, he is very accurate, and yes, he will land on Cotto. Here is my problem with this though. Cotto, if given a chance, has remarkable powers of recovery. These come to the fore most in the Judah and Mosley fights. Both men hit Cotto flush, and even hurt him at times, but they couldn't take him out. This was because they didn't sustain their attacks, Cotto was given room and time to recover and resume with his attacks. Clottey fights in a similair manner, by carefully picking his shots, he will not be able to do enough cumulative damage to Cotto - this is why Margo won, the pure volume of punches had a cumulative effect on Cotto which broke him down. Cotto is at his best when he dictates the pace - he needs to be taken out of his comfort zone, and as good as Clottey is, I have never seen anything to suggest that he can, or will apply and sustain the pressure necessary to make Cotto uncomfortable.

Clotteys defense - Again, very good. Part of the success of his defense is his reluctance to come out of his shell - his restricted shot selection is a byproduct of this. if he wants to beat Cotto, he is going to have to throw regualr and commit to combinations. If he goes down this route, which I think he might early on, he will be giving Cotto chances to counter, and Cotto has the ability to counter with 3, 4 or 5 punches at will, he does this as well as anyone in the game.

Potential problem for Clottey - yes, his D is very good, but watch him when he presses the attack and tries to come in behind a right hand, he hangs his chin out to dry. I fully expect Cotto, who's timing is impeccable to catch Clottey on the chin every time he lunges in. Like I said earlier, I believe this fight will go one of two ways - it will be fought at close quarters and it will be a war of attrition, or Cotto will box smart, at range where he is far more effective than Clottey - if the fight goes this way, expect to see Clottey lunging in with his chin up in the air, and Cotto will pick him off at will.

No... this is going to be a one-sided ass whooping. Those who overrate Clottey and underrate Cotto will come to this realization real soon.

Anything can happen but... I do not see this in any way, shape or form as a one-sided ass whooping. Not even close.

I cant believe some people are picking Cotto to knock Clottey out. Clottey has a granite chin and fast hands. Cotto is nice as ****. Clottey is gonna make Cotto fight all night long cause Cotto cant hurt Clottey.
