Just watching a re-run of the Cotto-Clottey fight on setanta now and have to say the level of refereeing was brilliant. The ref didn't buckle under any pressure nor did he fall for any of Clotteys antics in the last round.
I loved his quote in the twelfth after Clottey complains about the low blow.

"suck it up.. Fight like a champion"...Quality:good

Great refereeing, and I think he should get a lot of credit as referees seem to get a hard time from fight fans..

Thats a sign of a good job from a referee is that he is not the talking point.

You are right he did an excellent job.

Well probably not, there wasnt much for the referee to warn cotto about. It was hardly the dirtiest fight ever, and i'm a total neutral regarding the two fighters...

ref handle the incidents very well, a lesser ref and the fight would of have been decided by a poor ref decision

Mercante Jr. son of a legend.
Defo one of the better East Coast based ref's.

The referee did a great job especially in a dirty/messy fight like that.

I dont know.. in Judah fight after those hard lowblows he kept saying to Zab to suck it up too and should have deducted more points from Cotto. This is a sport which has rules you have to follow.

I liked his reaction after Cotto hit him on the back of the head in the 12th round. It was like a little kid after his mom told him he wasnt getting him any candy.
