According to The Scene, it's likely that Cotto will face Delvin Rodriguez in Florida.

Fighter never blames himself. Somebody has to get blamed for the Trout loss!

Just dont see where Roach can be of any help ressurecting a career thats been well on the downfall for awhile now.

Wonder if Alex Ariza will be Cotto's new conditioning coach.:think

Might actually work, his defense is never going to improve much we have seen that with the last few trainers.
So the other route is to improve his offense, maybe go back to the search and destroy machine he used to be.

Not saying this will work but it might not be as bad of a idea as it might initially seem.

He won't find much success with the old search and destroy style against bigger guys at 154lbs ,unless he is willing to cut to 147lbs where many of the natural 140lb's are currently at

At HBO the "big" names are Marquez, Bradley, Pac, Martinez and Chavez Jr.

If Cotto wants a big money fight with Pac it will have to be at a catchweight of 150, which he declined already. Another one is Marquez but he is too small to move up to a catchweight of 150, muchmore will he be at 154. Bradley, same as Marquez. Another money fight, Chavez Jr but is way too big for Cotto at MW and by what Jr said about fighting GGG at 168 indicates Jr might not be back at MW. That leaves Martinez, and if Martinez can make 154 or Cotto 156-157 we might have a fight in our hands. Other than that Cotto doesn't have other options for "big" fights at HBO.

The Oct fight for Cotto will not be a big name.

    Yep!

Cotto has himself a problem. He's in the same predicament Erik Morales was after his losses to Pacquiao.
Morales retired and after he came back he had trouble even making 140 lbs that he had to fight at 147 lbs.
The 140 lbs fighters are to big for Morales, much more full fledged welters.

Cotto's stamina is'nt great to begin with. If he had to struggle to get down to 147 lbs now, his stamina would be even worse.

Not sure I understand this move. I liked Diaz for Cotto.

I was of the understanding that Puerto Ricans in this forum thought Pedro Diaz was a perfect fit for Cotto.
Alot of them even were of the notion Diaz would be a difference maker if Cotto rematched Pacquiao.

    Obviously he didn't.

And he was just 1-2 with him.

Meh. 1 loss was vs Mayweather, who, frankly, Cotto did well against, but probably wouldn't beat regardless of trainers. Trout was simply too much of a combination of size and skill for a small 154 pounder like Cotto.

Sometimes I think Miggy is his own worst enemy. He's not doing himself any favors with the constant changing of trainers. Didn't much like the move up to 154 to begin with, but what the hell do I know.

I think the Trout loss affected his relationship with Diaz.

    Didn't expect it did Miguel.

Diaz was the best thing to happen to Cotto as he made the lazy **** train, No way Cotto should have ever lost to a walking Pinata like Margarito, that first time, but he doesn't like to push or hurt in training and so he ran out of gas and got ****ed up.

Cotto training camps before Diaz were a complete ****ing disarray of swimming pools and eating sishkabobs and ****ing around with pals in florida, collecting fat checks from HBO and talking in the third person. 5'7" Miguel doesn't have the discipline to make welter and always gasses after 7 rds Diaz had his ass running and hurting. So Cotto let him go, stupid move .
