the hue and cry of the floyd haters. cotto a guy who has never beaten an active champion is the new savior:rofl

You haters are simpletons floyd is not going to lose he is the chosen one:deal cotto is an above avg fighter who has taken a shitload of punishment:admin this guy is not going to get a quick easy pay day like hatton because he doesn't draw flies to ****.

the fight against mosley didn't even sell out and only did 360,000 buys, and he ran in the last three rounds:deal

you guys are hoping that cotto can beat floyd jkust like hatton's fans hoped hatton could get the job done. floyd will starch cotto easily. and if he does that then you haters can run around talking about floyd hasn't unified 147 well guess what floyd is the only real champion at 147 the rest are paper champs:rofl

there is no unification the only way that happens is if the young guns like cotto/williams/and cintron fight each other to prove they are worthy to face the spirit of a living god of battle .

    hoya
    castilo
    corrales
    judah
    hernandez
    hatton
    baldomir

couldn't get the job done what makes you think cotto can:deal

Cotto doesn't draw flies to ****? What do you make of his supporters crowding MSG on several occasions? And what do you make of his Puerto Rican following?

Cotto is a tough fight for floyd. I am a floyd so called fan boy and this is just common sense..Cotto has a great fast well timed jab...that would eliminate him from getting hattoned...lol...hattoned.

HERE IS SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT AS TO WHY MIGUEL COTTO WOULD GIVE FLOYD MAYWEATHER A MUCH TOUGHER FIGHT THAN RICKY HATTON

Ricky Hatton was a roughhousing swarmer while Miguel Cotto is a technical pressure fighter. It is the technical pressure fighters that can disrput Floyd's rhythm, not so much the fighters with Hatton's head first style.

Cotto will not try to box on the outside like Arturo Gatti nor will he leap in with wild shots like Ricky Hatton. He will work his way inside behind a jab. He knows how to get inside better than Hatton and he doesn't take as much punishment coming in. Why? Because he holds his hands high and unlike Hatton, slips occasionally and moves his head more. He doesn't have the head movement coming in like Roberto Duran, but don't be fooled, he does move his head.

Cotto didn't apply the same kind of pressure he normally does against Mosley because of Mosley's physical strength. Mayweather is strong, but not as strong as Mosley. Cotto would most definitely be applying relentless pressure. He is a very cerebral fighter and knows he couldn't box or counter punch Floyd in the center of the ring.

On the inside, Cotto doesn't smother his attack or grapple like Hatton. He lets his hands go in combination and on the elite level, he is a better body puncher than Hatton. His workrate would be greater than Hatton's.

Hatton has greater footspeed, but Castillo didn't have great footspeed and he gave Mayweather a tougher time than Hatton. Hatton can close the gap quicker, but Cotto is very consistant and always stalking. His speed is underrated. A difference between Hatton and Cotto is that Cotto has better overall footwork. He is always balanced and in position to throw.

I find it absolutely absurd that people say Mayweather would knock out Cotto faster than he did Ricky Hatton. At 147, Hatton is not an elite fighter. He is a B-level fighter than would lose to every champion and would likely go life and death with every other top 10 fighter. People say Cotto's chin is much worse which is simply not the case. At 147, Hatton was out on his feet, rocked, and arguably knocked down by Luis Collazo - a guy not known for his power. And yesterday, he was knocked out pretty badly by Floyd Mayweather. Cotto's chin issues were talked about when he was at 140. But I feel, and the evidence suggests that it was because he was draining himself to make weight. At 147, he has only been rocked by Zab Judah who stunned Mayweather, KO'd Cosme Rivera, and TKO'd Cory Spinks. Judah has more power than Collazo or Mayweather, and Cotto dealt better with his clean shots than Hatton did with either opponent he has faced at welterweight.

Cotto can deal with speed. Granted he has never faced an opponent with the speed of hand or foot of Mayweather, but against Malignaggi, Quintana, Judah, and Mosley, he neutralized speed, cut off the ring, and applyed effective pressure. Hatton, on the other hand, has great trouble with speedy fighters who can counter punch and catch guys coming in. Eamon Magee showed Hatton's vulnerability, Collazo did as well, and Mayweather fully capitalized on it.

Cotto has superb timing, a superb jab, and is a better body puncher than Ricky Hatton. He is so much stronger and every indication is that he is much better at welterweight than Hatton. Just have a look at their performances.

It is crazy to think Hatton is better than Cotto at 147.

    HERE'S A LITTLE MORE
Castillo worked behind a jab to get inside and was a technical pressure fighter. He gave Mayweather perhaps his toughest fight, and many people believe he beat Mayweather in the first fight. Hatton's swarming style gave Mayweather some trouble early, but as I predicted, Floyd figured him out and caught him over and over coming in. It is the technical pressure fighters who give Floyd the most trouble.

Cotto would have to use the jab coming in. It works to his advantage over coming in like a bull with wide shots and his chin exposed. It can keep fighters off balance and occupied and it also allows Cotto to take less punishment. You say it's not a good idea to work behind the jab? Duran did it, Chavez did it, other great pressure fighters did it. Ricky Hatton is not a great pressure fighter. He's a roughhouser and a swarmer. He only threw 6 jabs a round which is dismal.

The key to effective pressure is a good jab. It doesn't mean Cotto would engage in a jabbing battle on the outside. It means he would use the jab to get inside where he could do his best work. Also, using the jab to get in close as Cotto does and keeping your hands high as Cotto also does makes it harder for opponents to counter him coming in. A thing to notice about Cotto's jab is that he times opponents with it and hits them when they least expect it. He studies their rhythms.

Nobody fights Cotto and has an easy time. He can close the gap and is better on the inside than Hatton. Cotto throws more fluid combinations and works the body more often. Physically, he is much stronger than Hatton and he hits much harder. He has better footwork and is better at cutting off the ring.

Judah's punching power gave Cotto trouble early on. He caught him with shots he didn't see coming and because Judah can really crack, Cotto was stunned and slightly rocked. However, as early as the second round, he was dealing with Zab's speed fine and cutting off the ring.

Malignaggi put up a game fight and did have success with the jab, but at 140, Cotto fought in spurts because he was weight drained. At 147, he is a much different fighter.

Cotto dealt with Mosley's speed fine. His handspeed wasn't as great, but it was close. The thing that gave Cotto trouble was Mosley's physical strength, not his speed of hand or foot. And Mosley wasn't hitting him at will. Cotto landed at a higher connect percentage and actually showed a good defense.

It is crazy to think Hatton has a better chin at 147 than Cotto. I gave all my reasons, so I'm not going to type them out again. Just watch the performances, see how much they were hurt, and then factor in the fighters who did it to them.

Hatton is not an elite fighter at 147. He's good, but not elite. Cotto, on the other hand, is elite. His technical skillset, physical strength, pressuring skills, outside accuracy, footwork, balance, underrated hand speed, brutal body punching, and fierce determination lead me to fully believe Mayweather would most certainly not have an easy night with him.

Irregardless what people think on Cotto making it or not . . . the fight still needs to happen and got witnessed by everybody.

You're back with your STUPID DESPERATE justification on PBF ducking deserving opponents.

    And you were saying???

Margarito is a paper champ because he hasn't proven anything but Williams deserved it more than Cotto because he defeated a real Champ?

    I say . . . **** you . . . dick sucker! Get lost! :yep

If they can make 147 safely, then what's the problem?

Don't tell us what you think is the reason, because you have no ****in clue. It's just the opinion of a fanboy and not based on ANYTHING but what you think.

Every since Floyd moved up and started being the "tiny one" you fanboys have cried about the big WW's. Quit acting like a ****in ***** women and man up for once *****.

Margarito has said he walks around at about 160 between fights. Dude's a gym rat, he doesn't gain much weight inbetween fights.

Now go make another bull**** post toopretty...the Fanboys will need you. :hi:
