There is no reason for it not to happen. Oscar cant be scared its not like him. If Cotto beats dlh up in MAY(IF), Mayweather-Cotto in DEC 08 Does 2 Million buys just my preference

I concur, Cotto-Hatton would be optimal. The winner of this should face (or in Hatton's case, re-face) Mayweather. If Cotto wins, we know he's the most qualified contender for PBF. If Hatton wins, then perhaps he will have evolved to the point of seriously giving PBF a run for his money this time (I think he was on the right track, in the last fight, and fought competently enough).

DLH should no longer be a serious player at the elite level. He needs to re-earn his credentials against someone like Mallinagi, otherwise facing Cotto or Hatton will only look like a blunt money grab, for DLH and corruption as usual, in boxing.

Floyd seemed too big for Hatton? You really think that Cotto wouldn't walk through Hatton? I think Hatton needs to go back to jr. welterweight and forget trying to be a welterweight. The division is filled with HUGE welterweights.

Only if Cotto wins and then we see PBF-Cotto.

If DLH wins, we probably end up with PBF-DLH 2.

cotto is just fighting oscar to get the publicity he needs. beating a good champion is secondary. he should fight williams. although the 'fighter a beat fighter b who beat fighter c, which means fighter a can beat fighter c' doesn't always apply, it does in this case, as floyd can beat anyone. so, that fight would show who is most qualified to fight pbf.

De La Hoya/Cotto would be a huge event. If Cotto could secure the "W" over De La Hoya - it would catapult him to mega-stardom and set up an eventual showdown with Mayweather. Cotto has to beat him first - which is anything but a given. De La Hoya could box circles around Cotto. To say that DLH has to "re-earn" his credentials against someone like Malignaggi is just downright ludicrous. You don't have to re-earn jack or **** when you're the biggest draw in any given sport.

this fight will determine who will fight floyd in dec of 08 in the biggest fight in boxing history.

if oscar ko's cotto then the buildup will be huge and may dwarf the world awaits I.

with a 50-50 split both could get 25 million guaranteed:deal

    No but Cotto/williams would be.

Oscar needs to quit acting like vince Mcmahon and earn his way to a title and is only ranked # 1 by the racket abc bodies because he happens to be King racketeer.

I would love to see this fight, but I think DLH would hand Cotto his first Knockout loss.

Guys, i love mayweather and cotto. But cotto does not have mayweather's defence. Oscar will find that chin and crush it with a left hook. If Oscar sits on the left hand and waits for Cotto to get comfortable enough Cotto will come in on it in 6th to 8th round and get knocked out. Cotto is tailor-made for Oscar's style. It is a predictable fight as Cotto is the type of fighter that makes Oscar look good. You can not bring up Mosley fight as evidence of Cotto's ability. Mosley has better speed but he uses it impatiently. If he can not surprise you with it as he did first time with Oscar it can be nullified and he has no plan B. Oscar has incredible speed, masterful defence, and better at combinations, and of course, more power than Mosley.
