it's a catchweight fight like someone else already said. You can't call it a junior welter because the fighters are weighing in above 140. You also can't call it welter because the fighters are being prohibited from weighing in at the welterweight limit.

    It's a catchweight fight.

The fight isn't a WW bout even though it falls within the parameters of the WW divison, and even though it's for a WW bout? This is what you're saying?

No, a WW fight is a fight in which neither fighter can come in above the WW limit of 147 lbs. There's a contracted weight, but it will be sactioned as a WW fight as neither fighter is permitted to come in over 147 lbs.(Both fighters are allowed to come in over 145 but not over 147 as long as they are willing to pay the other fighter a fine). This fight is clearly a WW bout, that is a fact. There is no debating facts.:deal

I understand your reasoning, but you are wrong. The WBO and the NSAC will not prohibit either fighter from weighing in at or below 147 lbs. The only thing preventing either fighter from weighing over 145 is a fine built into the contract. This is indeed a WW fight. The NSAC and WBO are sactioning it as a WW fight, and the WBO WW title will be on the line.

That is expected given that Manny's NOT a WW. For the fight to be made on fair grounds both parties had to agree to a FAIR arrangement. Which they did. How is this NOT an even playing field? Manny is facing the far larger foe in Cotto at a weight that is NOT his optimum weight. Cotto loosing a single pound from his last fight won't cause him to be any less than 100%. How can you applaud Cotto and not Manny? PAC is the one seeking the toughest of challenges in divisions that poses more of a threat than anything miguel.

PAC has been in tough fights as well. Cotto and PAC at 145 is a fair fight. People want to discredit PAC anyway they can by comming up with excuses to why he wins and why he dominates. Sad really....but this is nothing new. When you are on top everyone has an opinion and reasons to pray on your downfall or at least discredit your accomplishments.

All hell broke loose b/c Floyd and JMM had an agreement which Floyd didn't honor. 2 pounds or really 1 for Cotto isn't going to be a factor.

People seem to think that moving up in weight and still being effective is a given as well. But its not. Gaining and loosing weight has their affects on a fighter...bottom line.

True....PAC hasn't and neither has Cotto in his last fight. PAC is always under his contracted weight especially since he's taken on challenges against bigger men.

I understand that. I still personally don't consider it a welterweight fight. I am sure when Manny gets into the hall of fame he will be soooooo concerned that thewoo didn't consider the fight welterweight, but that's besides the point.

To me there is a difference between both guys training hard enough that they weigh in below the limit and the contract stipulating that you may not weight the full limit.

your missing the point buddy. 144 was the contracted weight for PBF vs JMM. your boy goes beyond what was agreed. its like kicking a dead horse. your boy has all the advantage but still isnt enough for him as he came in 2lbs heavier.
