    I don't know about that.

It is the smart move. If he gets destroyed by Martinez, everybody will give him a pass as he is so far above his effective weight and facing the best middleweight out there. He will still have the Canelo fight on the table as well before he retires.

All in all it is the smart business decision.

Everyone is predicting Martinez to destroy Miguel.... which is possible because this IS boxing .

So if Miguel does defeat Martinez , he should get respect.

But its very likely it wont happen .

Certain people will just say Cotto caught Martinez at the end of his career coming off a surgery .

Pretty much a lose/lose situation in most peoples eyes .

Mayweather started his career at 130 and Cotto is basically prostituting himself at 160. He doesn't plan on winning

point is mayweather would never test himself to go fight a faded martinez let alone a prime martinez at 160

Makes sense. Last chance to get your hands on the middleweight-title before Golovkin takes over ;)

Yes, he deserves respect. Why be so cynical to say he does not expect to win?

Freddie really wanted this fight. I'm sure that if Miguel had any doubts, Freddie convinced him they could do this.

Cotto had no business at 154. Now he has no business at 160. But Martinez is trash and possibly easy pickings at this point, so we'll see.

Dumbass PBF started at 130 he's already moved up 5 weights. Cotto started at 140 and hasn't moved up as many. Good for Cotto
