Good on cotto. If he is goig to fight pac he will come to win not for a payday like most of hes opponents... How can pac call himself 8 div champ if he wont even go back up to even 150! I hope floyd takes on cotto
yes. but we are talking about cotto. 147 is fair as 150 is fair. anyway, i don't like to see this fight for pac for he won't gain anything aside from money. but i like cotto to avenge his other loss. but floyd is the better route and if he beats floyd, then take on pac next.
:yep better fight and he says Mayweather will fight him at 154 lbs so there must have been some talks between them.
Cotto asked for the catchweight against Margarito for two reasons. #1. Margarito had just fought Pacquiao at 150lbs, and was in great shape. #2. Mind games. They settled on 153lbs, and he made it awkward for Margarito, whether it is a pound or not. He probably knew the 150lb catchweight was never going to happen. 147lbs is not fair, at all...Arum and Pacquiao seem to be the ones chasing this bout, Cotto is in the driving seat for once. Cotto has been at Junior Middle since the last Pacquiao bout. Pacquiao has been to Junior Middle before, 150lbs IS fair. But yeah, I'd prefer Cotto-Mayweather...something new.
It was a catch weight of 153 lbs kinda pointless though, and agree that a fight with Floyd would be a better fight for him to make.
why is 147 not fair when cotto said before that he can still make the weight and is not the draw against pacquiao?
150lbs is not fair. Miguel Cotto is a 154lb champion of the world, Manny Pacquaio claims to of been a 154lb champion of the world. He fought Margarito at 150lbs, Marg then re-hydrated to a huge weight; much higher than what Cotto will go too. Cotto will be forced to put his belt up for grabs, so he should demand it be held at the proper weight limit, Miguel is champion and one more loss will be devestating for him at this point in his career, so if there's a time to play hardball then it's now.
I don't know just going by what Cotto said about Floyd being willing to fight him at 154 lbs. I can't see Floyd vs Martinez fight happening in May but hopefully it happens.
Nice play by Cotto bringing the Mayweather discussions into it. That puts Arum on the backfoot. He now knows Cotto has big options, and a Cotto Mayweather fight is likely to be a bigger PPV event that Pacquaio vs Bradley or Peterson, which in turn puts Pac's demands for a 50-50 split in a Mayweather fight in a difficult position. I'm impressed with Cotto here. That said, either fight suits me. Cotto-Pac at 154 will be a barnstormer and probably a fair bit closer than the first fight. And Cotto Mayweather is equally interesting.
Pacquiao beat the **** out of Cotto, and turned him into a bloody mess running like a ***** to survive, and he still got stopped anyway. End thread. atsch
