Manny will continue to fight at catch weights.. If a guy is too small he will make them go up "Juan" if they are too big he will weight drain them.. If 2 pounds is no big deal then why in half his fights he fights at catchweights.
it was reported that he was demanding way lower weight before and they settled on 153 when margo's camp won't agree with 150/151.
It's funny how so many casuals can look to the win on paper and not the nature of it. Pacquiao caught Cotto at the most ideal time in his career. Cotto was coming off a brutal loss to a cheater, was demanded to meet at 145 and put up his title, had no corner, a training camp that only focused on losing weight, family drama. As they say, the fight game is 90% mental and with all that **** going on in Cotto's life, it was the perfect recipe for disaster. Things will be completely different at 154 and at this point in Cotto's career. He is with a solid trainer, his family life has improved, he avenged his brutal loss, and has his confidence and hunger back. 2012 will be the end of this Pacquiao facade.
pacman is the king of catch weights. winning world titles never fighting over 140 is beyone me. if cotto wants to risk a fight with pacman at a catch weight thats on him. i would not advise it though. i think cotto should come in at 154 and pacman 147 and no titles on the line and let them fight. what ever happens happens. atleast cotto will know he is healthy and not GROSSLY weight drained like before.
Team pac has plenty of choices when it comes to opponents but its clear they wanted cotto next to floyd.. But neither fighter will be drained or old enough for pac to risk Marquez allready priced out after he arguebly won Bradley or peterson? Peterson is the most likely option... Matches up well for pacquiao
that is what so many people fail to understand...the 145 wasn't about draining him, it was about not allowing him to train properly
If Cotto can't make 147 lbs healthy maybe the fight shouldn't happen and that's the end of it. But to claim that weight doesn't matter when Pacquiao himself is not willing to fight him at 150 is childish, if the weight wouldn't have mattered the first time than why not just make it at 147 the first time? Those two pounds were meant to make a difference, if not it wouldn't have been demanded.
Cotto always had a backbone... He is realizing that staying quiet for the sake of being a good guy is overrated.
