When you challenge yourself against the level of comp as consistently as a Miguel Cotto the chances of tough, grueling fights are almost inevitable. Especially since Cotto has it in his DNA to go out and fight. Not run, hold or be fine with taking as little risk as possible in route to a win on points. Plus.....even in the loses that he suffered knowledge and experience is still a natural byproduct for real champions. They come back and take what was learned from the loss and make adjustments.
I keep hearing how Cotto is going to lose and get knocked out. It adds a lot of pressure on the young Alvarez to meet or exceed all those expectations. In the back of his mind Nelo has to replay the only time his chin had ever been tested as a pro against Miguel's brother, who is no where near the puncher Miguel is. Not that it means Cotto is a 100% lock to knock Nelo out...it just adds a bit of doubt in the head of the "favorite" that could end up playing a role in an upset. I think Nelo is great and will be the future of boxing, but this order of business is his greatest test...some may say Floyd but Floyd was never someone Nelo had to fear or "respect" in the sense that he could end up hurt against an opponent with this level of credentials.
