You failed to recognize my point on multiple levels. The belt will only add to the promotion. Believe it or not, the laymen casual fan would be more intrigued if they were conditioned via promotion to believe that the fight would decide who will be champion. Clearly someone who regularly posts on a boxing forum would be excluded from such a demographic so I wouldn't expect you not to to tune in based on the merit of Cotto's title.

this fight doesnt need a belt at stake. u got two huge hitters who dont back down. thats all that matters. this one will be huge regardless of the void of the belt.

a belt would only add to more sanctioning fees you twat. People recognize fighters than the useless WBA belt that Cotto is holding.

Ask a regular non fan to recognize what Cotto's belt is and you'd get a blank response.

No one cares about f'n belts. Even layman people.

Thia was stated in the article: Bad possible news for Cotto, if he doesn’t agree to a title defense and pay sanctioning fees, is that he can beat Pacman in the ring and have his title vacated by the WBO regardless.

Does that mean that WBO will strip him if he wont put the belt on the line? IF that's the case, then i think its better for him to put it on the line, atleast he has a fair chance to beat pac and retain the title...

Cotto is a champ at 147. He shouldn't have to lose a belt thats mandated at 147, if he fights at 145. its plain simple english, you want a welterweight belt..fight em at a welterweight limit.

Clearly Cotto does. He obviously sees value in the belt which is why he's holding it ransom. To restate my point again, a title adds to the promotion whether you choose to acknowledge it or not and if Cotto losses to Pac no one including the layman casuals would recognize him as champion.

It's the wbo ww title not the wba ww title doby. But you just made a good example that title belts for this fight don't mean nothing. Casual fans won't care about it cause they all know who Cotto is and who Pacquiao is. Beenie just want it to be title on the line cause he's a biased Pacquiao fan in which he wants Pacquiao to win a ww title in 7 weight class. Like i said if Pacquiao really wants to face Cotto for the ww title then fight at the ww limit. Many say "losing 1 pound" is nothing, well if thats so then why not fight 2 more pounds at 147 pounds in a ww limit if it's nothing?

Wrong you fail. When Arum announce Cotto vs Pacquiao is on, did he actually mention the title to be on the line? When jeter and kobe talk about Cotto vs Pacquiao fight, none of them talk about title belts in which shows fans are excited about the fight happening. Title or not, it don't matter. Like i said if Pacquiao wants that title then fight at the ww limit. It's that simple.
