after watching 24 7 i really grew to like cotto as a person, and i can really see why he has so many passionate fans he seems like a really good guy. However as a boxer he honestly has to be one of the most overrated fighters in recent history. First from a technical boxing/ ability perspective, cotto is flat footed and not that fluid in the ring, he also lacks a tight defense and he doesnt have the best reflexes,he also has terrible stamina for a professional, lastly in ability his power is overrated, he never hurt margarito whom was crushed by mosley a man with great power, and he never really hurt judah with one shot that was more of an accumalation, and he never really hurt malinaggi. Secondly his competition, his one big name is mosley, whom i think it was clear was not motivated for the fight for a variety of personel reasons and im confident if they fought 5 times mosley would win 4, the other big names are judah( whom is really a big name) and margarito and pacquiao, i dont think i need to speak about the last one. Lastly cotto hasnt ever even won the true world championship in any division, he has never unified and never been proclaimed undisputed champion, so why the accolades why is he considered in a pound for pound elite, hes not. He struggled late against malinaggi was doen and hurt against torres and corley, i just dont get the hype and never did, i said all this before the clottey fight as well and he proved me right just like he did against manny. I dont mean to kick a man while he has down because i do admire him for taking on all comers, but he just isnt an elite fighter plain and simple. Please all cotto fans get on here and bs about how i know nothing becaue cotto is awesome, but also while your saying that try to disprove anything i just said.

cotto has some solid names on his resume. he has fought the best and has come up short sometimes. i'll tell you this much, more fighters may be seen as being "overrated" if they would get in the ring with the very best like cotto has (jermain as well).

So basically what you're trying to say is that Cotto is overrated because he lost to Pacquiao and Margaritto. :patsch

Cotto is good but not overrated. Cotto could've PROBABLY beaten Pacquiao if he didn't lose his confidence in his punching power.

Cotto is overrated. I saw it, as to why I picked Pac to KO him in 5. He got a gift against Clottey. Got pummeled by Margarito. And was wobbled by average guys in Torres and Corley and even Malignaggi won 5 rounds off of him.

Cotto has come a long, long way. Stick a fighter on the course he has led during his career and 90% wouldn't get as far as he has come. He has overcome many tough, challenging obstacles on the way, to be a 2 weight, 3 time world champion.

    Cotto's definetly elite.

"Overrated" say all of the haters before they head off to work the drive-thru at the local burger joint. The man enjoys measuring himself against the best. I wish other fighters wanted to prove themselves like Cotto.

Well, Cotto has fought Clottey, Margarito and Mosley, all of who Floyd has avoided like the plauge. If Mayweather had Cotto's schedule he may have lost too.

Cotto has never beaten a top WW decisively, baring Zab Judah which he had to low blow so much that the fight became a joke.

He arguably lost to Clottey and Mosley and definitely got beat by Margo, who Williams and Mosley both beat decisively and who Clottey was on equal footing with until his hand injury.

Aside from beating the likes of Gomez and Jennings, he isn't impressive at 147. He probably would have gotten beaten by the likes of Berto.
