Cotto Fans are Angry with Kenny Bayless...

it should have been stopped after the 9th.it was abundantly clear that cotto had no way to win. he was outgunned and wobbly since the 4th. he took an inordinate amount of punishment. heck, even his wife left the fight cause he was taking such a terrible beating.

 

I'm pretty sure t'internet message boards weren't invented at the time, but there was a lot of contraversy over that, and continues to be until this day.

Personally I think both stoppages were fine, but at least you need to look up 'double standards' in a dictionary...

Cotto didn't seem to mind the fight was stopped, I thought the corner told the ref to stop it if Cotto didn't do any better?

 

Bayless is a great ref only him and Tony Weeks should be allowed to ref these big mega fights.

 

I dont see any cotroversy the fight could have been stopped earlier after the Uppercut in the 4th round the fight was basically over.

Bayless did his job Cotto was running and Pac was chasing him around the ring it was no point in letting it continue.

Cotto got his ass kicked, I still can't beleive how easy he made it look!

 

Hey man, lay off the !!! and anger pills. I haven't heard many people saying Bayless should have let Cotto continue. I personally think it should've been stopped in the 9th round. I think that what some people say is that at the time Bayless stopped it it was a bit strange considering that he let Cotto come out of the corner and at the split moment when he stepped in, Cotto wasn't in serious trouble in comparison to many other moments in the fight such as the 9th. Whether it was stopped by the corner, ref, or DR, after the 7th, I personally wouldn't have contested against it, Cotto had nothing left, in my opinion.

Hey, by the way, you mad an argument in another thread of yours about that people are calling out the ref for not letting Cotto continue but that no one said anything for the ref in the Taylor/Chavez fight. First, I recall many, many people on both sides complaining that Taylor should have been let to continue that fight. But you have to understand that the referee, according to his explanation and reasons why he stopped it, was simply doing his job to the T. Taylor was prompted, given instructions, he didn't react or respond to the referee, thus, the referee stopped it. He only reacted to the ref when the fight was stopped, as opposed to listening to the ref when he was being prompted. As much as you want to lay it on the referee for stopping the fight, Taylor was also partially responsible for not responding accordingly to the referee after the knock down.

 

Fight should have been stopped earlier. Cotto is a great fighter and bright future ahead of him. No point on risking all that when its already a clear cut win. Cotto had no more punching power after the 6th round. He never recovered, period!

 

And let Pac do more damage? Cotto still managed to throw a couple of jabs, but i dont think it bothered Pac a bit, He was still looking fresh in the 12th rd. His corner wanted to stop it and Bayless even gave him the benefit of the doubt. Seeing Cotto couldnt do anything anymore, he decided to end it just when Pac caught him with a big left.

If there was anyone who should be crying about an early stoppage, are those Cotto haters that wants Cotto to get KTFO.

That was a good stoppage, imo

 

Cotto wasn't defending himself properly and was soaking up punishment since the sixth rd. He was in survival mode for the last 6 rds.

At this level, all it takes is one punch.
Look where Z Gorres is.

Manny knew this and didn't go for the kill because he didn't want to injure Cotto.

His father wanted to stop the fight. His wife had left the stadium already.
Cotto didn't dispute the stoppage.

Bayless didn't just stop it. He told Cotto to fight or he'll stop it.

Cotto was not fighting, he was running from Pac, and when on the rope he was getting tagged and had no defense. What did these idiot expect Bayless to do? His job is to look after the fighter that can't defend himself.

 

at that point in the 12th though it was obvious pacquaio was about to go for the KO and possibly cause serious harm to a guy who had just about lost the ability to defend himself. i thought it was a fair stoppage, but i can understand why people might not agree

 

I can't find the post fight quote were Cotto told his corner to stop the fight at the end of the 11th round!!!

I've never been a Cotto fan but over the years i've always respected his humble and respectable personality!!

I think Cotto fans are more angry that their fighter loss than at the ref!!!! Just need someone to channel their anger towards!!!!!!!!!
