Kenny did the right thing. If it was up to his corner the dude would have ended up been scrapped off the floor. Of Course Cotto wont quit himself as he is a warrior. That is what the refs are there for to protect the fighter's health. Some fighters are too brave to quit so it takes someone with some sense to stop them from getting hurt and suffering permanent damage.

Cotto's dad wanted the fight stopped at the closing of the 11th. It was Cotto who insisted that he be allowed to continue the last round. Pac was even overheard asking Bayless to stop the fight for Cotto's sake on the 11th and the 12th.

    Just saying.

    hmm says . . .

Cotto was surviving/running... he was cut also (reopened eye).. once Pac caught him in the ropes and Bayless continued to see him not defending or throwing effecting punches of course he had a right to stop it.. Cotto didn't seem to mind and hugged Pac. At least Cotto didn't quit (we're ppl expecting to see some victory to come out?)

Some fans' bloodlust are plain twisted and sadistic--this is not some brutish Roman gladiatorial arena FFS. Others are blinded by insecure nationalistic pride--this is just a sport, not some war for freedom bitches...

Cotto needed to be protected: 1. from himself (he has too much cajones for his own good); 2. from Pac (who was a freakin' wrecking cyborg of sorts)---Aaand above all 3. from the narrow-minded bloodlust of his fans. Bayless did a good (not great IMO--he could have stopped it as early as the 9th, 10th or at the most 11th) job on all 3 counts.

Bayless should have stop it in the 9th. Cotto's trainner was recless trying to make cotto fight the 12. 9 and 10 it was ok for them to give cotto another chance cause he has heart and a big punch. but once you see him not even trying to throw a big punch, its time to call it a day. If that was pac instead of cotto, roach would have called it around 9 or 10. Maybe even sooner cause pac is the smaller guy.

Kenny did the right thing, if anything the fighter should have been stopped earlier. Cotto's trainer did him no favors by letting that continue. A seasoned trainer would have stopped the fight in the 9th, no need to take anymore damage. especially in light of recent event.

I was fine with the stoppage. Cotto was pretty much out on his feet and had no chance of winning. Better stop it than to have another fighter die from unnecessary punishment. From the post-fight interview, it seemed Cotto was even fine with the stoppage.

I'm of the mindset that he should have stopped it sooner, 9th? But Bayless didn't. Why did he wait till the 11th to stop it? Imo, he let the fight drag on, let Cotto get his face rearranged only to pull the rug out from under Cotto.

It was the right decision to stop the fight earlier, but at that point in the 12th, it was more sad for Cotto because he almost made it. Dude, he almost made it. Now he pushed for the end, and payed for it with the hits he took and got nada for it.

I agree with Bayless discretion in the fight.....the only issues I have with Bayless is that he starts nitpicking Cotto in the beginning of the fight to keep his punches up...he did the same in the Margarita fight.

Punches were just above the belt line.....he needs to stay out of the way and
be seen when something is clearly south of the border !!!!

If he were the ref in the Mosley Margarita fight....Mosley may not have won the fight....he would have not allowed Mosley to clinch for not even 1 sec.
