Well not horrible but he let his chance to make history slip away. His jab was non-existent and he rarely threw his left hook combo (left to the body followed by left to the head). I was really dissapointed in his corner not telling him to jab enough. Also he didn't work when on the inside and he spent a lot of time just standing in front of Mayweather without doing ****. Major props for making Floyd earn his money though. And last but not least Floyd didn't dominate. He fought a hard fight and won more rounds to win the fight. Props to him for remaining tough and showing heart. Also let this be a lesson to you guys for saying Cotto didn't have a chance. This is boxing and styles make fights.
Cotto's Jab was one of the most consistent things in the fight last night. He did the best he could, and it showed, just leave it at that. His only problem was that his stamina is not the best. That's all.
Cotto worked plenty on the inside and landed plenty of jabs throughout. Floyd's nose didn't bleed by itself.
Floyd's nose was bleeding by the end of the second round and Cotto barely touched him to that point. Floyd said he was having sinus problems anyway.
Cotto gassed out by the later rounds. It's always been an issue with him when he can't consistently dictate the pace of a fight.
THAT WAS COTTO'S BEST PERFORMANCE YET. His jab was consistent and his defense was on point. Not to mention he was in tremendous shape.
You need to remember that he is in there with a guy. You are only allowed to be as good as the other guy lets you.
"Koro" is a disorder in which a male fears his ***** will shrivel up, retract into his body, and will cause him to die.
Cotto fought the best fight he possible could and out performed many peoples expectations. He was in there with the best fighter on the planet last night and should hold his head up high. I do not anyone else could have fought PBF better 154 and below (maybe 160)
I was impressed how often cotto would catch mayweather with the jab although they were mostly used to try to stop him when mayweather came forward, he should have also thrown it more when coming in to help him pick his shots. I was really dissapointed with his lack of the left hook though. There were many times up against the ropes where he would throw the right causing mayweather to parry it with his left shoulder and was leaning to his right completely open to a big left hook but it rarely came. All in all though good fight, it definitely had me at the edge of my seat.
