Come on man. Your telling me that Cotto couldn't have banged away more when they were clinching? Take a second look at the fight and tell me Cotto did all he could. You'll notice when he just stands there with his hands up looking at Floyd and not even pumping the jab or anything. I feel he could have been the one to beat Floyd but didn't take advantage.
I think Cotto fought the fight of his life and should be given props for his performance. I didn't think he had the resolve or will to keep at it til the end like he did.....might have had to do with Mayweather not fighting as frustarting a fight defensively as he normally does and actually exchanging but still Cotto far exceeded my expectations and I give him full credit as a dude who has never been a big believer in Cotto. Cotto didn't continue doing the things you say because he was getting tagged with hard counters and floyd was neutralizing him like he does to everyone, believe me Cotto wanted to, just like Mosley did, just like Marquez did....it just ain't that easy. Cotto did all he could and more, layed it all on the line and deserves his props for the fight of his life vs the best fighter of our generation. He poushed Floyd more last night than anyone since Castillo.
You laugh, but it's fact. But you don't let facts influence your judgement. You live in Willie Wonka Land... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKqLJkGe2NA[/ame]
Maybe, just MAYBE Mayweather isn't an easy enough task for Cotto to apply your uber strategic tactics. Remember, it's easier to type than apply in the ring.
Cotto fought better than expected. I was alittle upset how he could let 5-6 right hands in a row from downtown from Floyd hit him consecutively like that. He couldnt defend against a right hand to save his life and the uppercut and right hooks were non existent from Cottos part. Instead it was Floyd that landed a beautiful short left uppercut that almost dropped Cotto at the end. Those are rare punches you see nowadays very sneaky prime Oscar and Tito were great at them.
i hate how when he takes a break he jumps all over the place, basically does jumping jacks during the round, but it was a gutty and impressive performance by cotto despite the loss
Well!!! I certainly hope Floyd doesn't fight Manny Pacquiao, or he could be complaining of BrAiN Problems!
Yep. It was a stamina issue exclusively. It was not a stylistic nor a skill issue. I had the fight fairly close up until around the ninth. Had Cotto swept the latter rounds (all of which he gave away because of low work rate) he would have won or drawn. That being said, I don't think I ever saw Mayweather so physically battered in a fight. For once, it actually looked like he had been in a fight. Now i am totally convinced that Pac will beat Mayweather on volume. Pac will win 115-113 or 116-112 vs Mayweather and will throw a thousand punches in the fight versus like 500 thrown for Floyd.
