Cotto gets shot at WW Title, doesn't have to fight Williams or Margo

Every title holder is not a great fighter but every great fighter was, at one time, a legit champion.

Fake Hearns? He's nothing like Hearns and no one has compared Williams to Hearns on any level except for their physique and reach.

Williams moved up and down, if he can make 147 he can fight at 147. Thats not an excuse.

Williams easily outclassed? Did you even watch the fight, most people socred it 7-5. Thats not outclassed.

 

No, beating a champion makes a title legit. Cotto will have his shot to become a legit champion when he rematches Margo. What he's scheduled to win on Feb. 21st is nothing more than a trinket.

Yeah, beating a fighter whose best win was against a prospect for a vacant belt, another fighter who is coming off of 2 losses and a year layoff, as well as another fighter who was past it and without a significan win in years makes Cotto a legit champ.:roll: I thinks not.

 

If Top Rank was so worried about having unified champs they wouldn't have forced Margo to drop his belt before fighting Cotto. They would've also matched Margo up with the real WBO champ.

Remember Arum saying he was looking out for Clotteys best interest with the title hunt and all and 2 weeks later Clottey is interviewed stating he has spoken to Arum since before his last fight which was a few months back.

 

Alot of people, including those on this forum talk of him as a possible Hearns.

The fight went to the 11th round, where Cotto's uncle threw in the towel. Cotto never quit. He would of stayed in there till he either got knocked out, or the fight was over in 12.

 

Clottey is the odd man out. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't have the fan base that Margo and Cotto have. They threw him a bone by gift wrapping him that IBF belt. Arum hasn't talked to him since. Clottey has no idea who he's fighting next. Meanwhile, Arum has Margo and Cotto's next two fights mapped out.
