Cotto gets shot at WW Title, doesn't have to fight Williams or Margo

My points are that the WBO title has gained status

...and it's the fighters that make the titles.

...and also that Margorito was no World Champ either if the belt doesn't count, that is until after he was defeated by Williams.

I'm not saying you did, and every point I made was not directed toward your previous comments...however, you did say it was the least respected. I disagree there, especially at WW because of the Williams victory.

 

Cockrec is good for records...it's not the bible with regards to info on upcoming fight.

 

I can't entirely disagree with you, but I'd say that it's changing in our time, weight class by weight class.

Take the HWs for instance...WLAD lost a bid for this Title to Brewster..which gave the WBO lineage in that class a 1-up over the IBF if you will, while WLAd was their champ.

Wlad however defeated Brew in a rematch, and still went on to get the WBO belt from Sultan...erasing any question marks about the top HW Title holder...(and look how the "more respected" WBA Title was doing....it was considered fake because Ruiz wore it).

The situation at WW is not that different.
