i could see cotto outboxing ggg over 12...the reason for this is, ggg is very slow....and cotto has KO power, so if he gets his shots in, which he will, we'll see ggg's chin tested hard. cotto also has good boxing ability so, he would be able to neutralize ggg's offense in ways murray and ouma and stevens couldn't. i think cotto would box carefully, punch in combinations and try to adapt..ggg fights the same way in every fight. cotto is also a very flawed fighter....he tends to lose to top quality fighters ...but styles make fights, so i think thiis one could go either way. ggg would get his punches in because he's a very technical fighter. but what's he gonna do with a guy bouncing around the ring throwing combinations then tying him up at close quarters....but cotto is also a good inside fighter too...so it's not like he would NEED to tie up ggg in close. an inside fight would probably work to cotto's favor. it would be a good fight, but based on what i seen so far, i gotta go with cotto by decision.
GGG's chin seems solid. The most likely outcome is Golovkin by KO, however, Kneegel winning by UD wouldn't surprise me either.
If Cotto wanted to fight GGG he would be looking to fight a serious MW contender to prepare him for fighters at that weight. Instead he is looking to fight JMWs and WWs he isn't going to fight GGG.
I don't like giving in to the GGG hype train, just yet. BUT GGG beats hell out of Cotto. I see him making Cotto quit ala Margarito I, only faster.
LOL. You obviously haven't read my thread. Educate yourself: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=528892 Cotto hasn't really won a fight since 2009!
losing to pac, floyd and trout isn't bad. trout is one of the top fighters around....trout arguably won the canelo fight. the thing is, cotto has BEEN fighting guys like rodriguez and ko'ing them with ease...how's that different from ggg ko'ing adama or stevens or geale? i see no difference at all. if ggg had ko'd rodriguez as emphatically as cotto did, the gggelievers would be all over his nutsack callin it a great victory and saying rodriguez would beat cotto. i'm saying, ggg is still very unproven, but based especially on the murray fight, but also on the ouman fight, i think cotto, as flawed as he is, could still take it.
