I think one of his best assets actually is that he punches in combinations, Zab and Shane don't. Shane used to, but we all know what happened to that. Gomez probably will hit Cotto a couple of times flush, and a left hook behind a right hand, or a right hand behind a jab can add a lot to that.

A bodyshot can finish this fight however Gomez' body didn't look bad at all at his WW fights.

I dont care. Gomez doesn't deserve the shot. Both Cintron, Clottey and Margo were readily available.

I like Gomez much better than Cintron or Clottey -- for sure.

That simply wasn't the case, Cotto had the flu going into that fight and was hospitalized for a few days right after that fight.

Gomez is a tough competitor and a solid fighter, but against an elite fighter in Cotto, he doesn't stand much of a chance.

Alfonso is not a guy you want to underestimate, but Miguel won't do that, so that's no problem. I like gomez, and I'm a bit concerned about this fight. Alfonso has a good chin, he's tough, has a lot of heart, and solid "B" level skills. Add that all up and it probably amounts to Alfonso taking a hellacious beating before Cotto stops him. I dislike this match-up on many levels.

I watched Gomez fight Tackie and he baaaaarely squeaked that one by. Tackie had him hurt on more than one occasion. I like Gomez. He's got heart and work ethic, but he has no shot fighting any of the top-level fighters..

Tackie did not visibly hurt Gomez at all in that fight, much less did Gomez barely squeak by. He did put a lot of pressure on Gomez, and made it a hard fight like he's done against everyone he's fought. Gomez boxed him well to deal with it, and slowed down a bit late as a result of the pressure/lacking stamina, but he clearly had control of the fight and had been fighting with a broken hand since round 2.
