Im gonna put some money on Gomez. Stylistically, Gomez may have an edge here. This guy went toe-toe with Manfredo, same guy who went toe-toe with Jeff Lacy and nearly won.

Sorry but that is the worst kind of logic you could possibly use here. I am getting very frustrated with hearing this OVER AND OVER again from different people. Gomez went toe 2 toe with a lighter version of Manfredo, who has since improved SINGNIFICANTLY under Freddie Roach. Manfredo went up in weight and LOST to a very FADED version of Jeff Lacy, who put on an extremely poor showing. Manfredo DID NOT go toe 2 toe with Lacy at ANY time during this fight, and instead chose to box and clinch from the inside. Stylistically, Cotto >>>>>>>>>> Gomez. Cotto has the shorter tighter punches, more power, more speed, and is better in every area technically, both defense and offense. This match up is NOT close and will not last past the 6th round.

Toe-toe mainly requires power and chin, dont think roach improved that or lacy lost that. This will probably be UD for Cotto and could ruin gomez. Odds are tasty though.

But Manfredo never went toe 2 toe with Lacy. Thats what I just said. Roach improved his boxing ability, which allowed Manfredo to move laterally, throw punches and tie things up on the inside. It was really quite a boring fight, I am not sure what you saw there. Lacy on top of this has lost a massive amount of speed and the ability to put even basic combinations together with his punches. Personally, I think betting on unlikely outcomes due to great odds is a very strange strategy to use. I would much rather bet on an outcome with a good possibility of happening, that you are sure of, with odds that are still decent, but not brilliant. Its a much more consistent way to win money.

Gomez is good. Quite good actually, and he's improved a lot since his stint in the Contender. But, Cotto is faster, better technically, and hits harder than Gomez. I think Gomez makes it close throughout the first four or five rounds, and entertaining throughout...but Cotto wins this either by later rounds stoppage or by convincing decision.

Yes, this will be a very exciting fight. One-sided, but very exciting as Gomez will give his all.

Probably the first time we'll see Cotto fight somebody bigger than him. Let's see how he fares.

I like Gomez, but i can not see him beating Miguel Cotto, not in a million years. His heart might make a good fight, but not a close one.

I've been saying this since the fight was announced. Gomez is a LIVE underdog for sure. He is strong in body and mind. He won't be intimidated, he has a lot of pride and will train his ass off. He will believe he's gonna win too. Cotto better be ready. Also, as you stated Gomez is a big, tough dude. Good technically, Cotto is there to be hit alot and Gomez will hit him. Also, has Cotto ever fought anyone that can go to the body like Gomez?

I'm looking foreward to this fight I don't see it as the mismatch a lot of people do. Gomez is a tough ******* and will make it a fight. However I think Cotto stops him late, around the tenth.
