Don't bother explaining it to them. Cotto clearly was setting up to go for the kill the last few rds and Maragarito was as busted and defeated as a conscious man could be. Just cause he was walking foward throwing garbage punches doesn't mean he was turning any tables. He did the same thing to Manny and Manny just kept busting him up. I thought the Doctor could have let Margarito continue. He was never hurt in the fight. His eyelid was jacked up really quick probably due to scar tissue, but the bones didn't seem to be broken or anything. I would have rather had the Doctor stop it early in the fight, then stop it at the time when Margarito started doing damage in the first fight.

We don't know whether Cotto would have folded or not. Margarito's face, outside of the closed eye, was less damaged than Cotto's bruised up face was.

 

Did I watch a different fight last night? How can anyone paint a picture that Margarito was coming on in the later rounds of that fight? He was dominated by Cotto and had no answer for his defense, speed and game plan. Additional rounds would have not helped Margarito as his game plan was very ineffective. Without his heavy hands, Margarito is a gutsy fighter with very limited skills.

 

The only that was saved was Margaritos eyesight.

 

Agreed. Sadly less than 5% of the people commenting have any idea about boxing and are more concerned with 'supporting' their favourite fighter because they're from one country or another.

I didn't really care who won. Jus tglad it was such a good fight.

Margarito was saved from further punishment; because I don't think Cotto was taking the pedal off the metal in the same manner that Pac did. So, really, the only thing that Cotto was spared from was the prospect of being known as the guy who permanently blinded AM.
