Cotto was elite at 140, good at 147 and only okay at 154.

I like Cotto but I never thought he was great, fun to watch and seemed to have a good package of skill sets and attributes. He could punch well and had good footwork. Maybe if he did not have that devastating loss to Margo things would be different. One thing I cannot stand about Cotto is that h always looks like he is crying or pouting even when he loses.
I think Cotto has had a good ride.

i would respect him more if he would accept his defeats like a man. wide margin or not he lost straight up against mayweather and trout but walked out like a unsportsmanlike cry baby. his son was crying like a little girl, like father like son. where was his butt buddy at against trout? maybe thats why he lost, he didnt have his fat good luck buddha butt buddy in his corner.

    Crazy right?

Cotto has your respect more than you will ever have his. < True story son.

I don't see how Cotto was so much better at 140 than 147. He was facing lesser opposition, and his punch resistance was shakier, probably due to weight issues. He went life-and-death with Ricardo Torres and had his issues with Livermore Ndou as well.

At 147, he was still a guy who could box when needed to (Mosley), or pressure and punish the body (Quintana, Judah). He was more likely to hurt you to the body at 140, but his opposition wasn't as good either. He faced a lot of decent fringe contenders, solid as a whole, but no wins that were that special either. Just good as an overall package. His best win was proabably Mosley, at 147, and his best performance was arguably Quintana, also at 147.

Overall I rank him in the "very good" category. Somewhere in the vicinity of guys like Casamayor, Corrales, Castillo. As far as WW goes, a level/half-level below guys like Simon Brown, Ike Quartey, and Marlon Starling.

As far as I'm concerned, a fighter has every right to choose not to be interviewed after completing 12 hard rounds of fighting.
