For one thing, he doesn't fight out of his garage surrounded by yes-men. Canelo still has the same degenerate team that fawns all over him telling him he's the greatest red headed Mexican of all-time (he's not, that distinction belongs to Danny Lopez). Canelo doesn't even train hard. His crappy stamina is obvious in most of his fights. He didn't look good versus Lara. The Kirkland fight was nothing to get excited about since James gets knocked down in almost every single fight of his.

Cotto boxes better, moves better, and has better defense. I don't know if he punches harder but they are comparable for sure. Canelo rips off more combinations than Cotto but Cotto isn't going to be standing still like Kirkland. Canelo is best when he's able to back his opponent up and square up and let loose his combinations. Cotto isn't going to let him do that. He will show him lateral movement and he'll make Canelo pay for any mistakes he makes with overzealous punching.

Cotto is wiser and has improved under Roach. It is plain to the naked eye. I would say that Canelo could have a chance in the later rounds if Cotto were to get tired like he used to, but, Canelo's stamina is shoddy to say the least. So, I don't see how Canelo can beat this new and improved Miguel Cotto.

Speed may decide it. Cotto is faster . Especially on his feet

Canelo is very talented, but he does seem to be full of himself. You would have thought the back to back to back fights against Trout, Mayweather, and Lara would've humbled him and made him realize that he needs to make some changes to take his game to the next level. But then they fed him some more stationary targets and re-inflated his ego.

I don't discount that, but, will be much harder to land it on a non-stationary target.

Canelo has terrible feet and he can't close the ring off to save his life against someone who has even decent lateral movement.

Cotto is much better with his overall movement now though--something he picked up under Roach. He used to just bicycle backwards in certain fights but he has learned much better lateral movement and WHEN he should be moving in certain directions.

Yep. Cotto may be a diva, but, he's grown wiser. Canelo has yet to realize that his current situation is not the best for him, and it'll cost him against Cotto.

Canelo won't have the slightest problem with Cotto.

    Too big.

    Too strong.

    Too Young.

    Too skilled.

Cotto won't last as long as his brother did.
