Because Tsyzu was the man with the belts and the respect so Hatton wanted him. Shortly afterwards Cotto moved up. I think it was more logistics than anything.

Hatton knows Cotto loves those extra 7lbs and they are of huge benefit to him. I don't think he could effectively make 143 anymore.

I think Cotto/Hatton would be a good match up. Cotto is technically better, and Hatton normally gets hit too much. However, Cotto hasn't got the best chin in the world so either man could take it.

I think it would be a much more even fight than the Hatton/Manny fight - I can see only one winner there - the Pac.

Hatton is in a good position though, because he can now become the 'new De La Hoya'. Meaning, he doesn't have to be a no.1 contender or even ranked very highly, but anyone who wants a big payday can now fight Ricky because it's guaranteed to be big business.

For this reason, as long as he wants to box, Hatton can have his pick of the big fights.

    :huh

So if Pac beats Hatton, and a fight is then signed between Pac and PBF, this second fight will take place at WEMBLEY?????

Or are you taking it for granted that Hatton would beat Pac?

Hatton beats Cotto at any weight, 140 or 143 if Cotto fights like he did against Margarito

hatton is average at 147 he needs to stay at 140 where he is a dominant force.
hatton now knows this to be true and i think he will stay at 140 for the rest of his career.

Neither, it was just not a fight that ever got down to serious negotiations, both guys had other things on. No ducking, just the way it was. Hatton wins at 140, Cotto at 147 by the way.

hatton mentioned cotto several times in interviews in 2005 & 2006,hatton hasnt mentioned it since most likely due to cotto permanently moving to welterweight.

Yep, one fights at 140 other at 147. Obvious.

Is it that long ago when they were both at 140 that nobody can remember the facts? They were both the rising stars of the division and would def. have met if they'd have both kept winning and stayed at 140. Unfortunately Cotto outgrew 140 and the fight didn't materialise. Hatton mentioned Cotto plenty of times too, does that mean Cotto is ducking Hatton? Of course not.

The way people bandy words like "ducking", "scared", "calling out" and "coward" around here I think they confuse
    boxing with Pro-wrestling type hype.

Some of you guys need to check better before assuming a certain fighter is scared to DEATH from another, this isn't WWE, seriously.

Hatton DID show interest, it was Cotto the one with weight issues at the time. If Cotto was nearly out on his feet against Corley and nearly KO'd against Torres then I'd hate to see what Hatton would have done to him.
