I still think that he has an underrated chin when he is in tip top shape mind you. I mean mosley landed some pretty clean shots and cotto didnt even blink. And shane is a very powerful puncher. So no his chin may not be the best in the business, but if that is his only so called weakness, then the other men at ww are in for a rude shock.

Under older rules, JMM would have been KO'd on the third KD in fight 1 with Paq.

So maybe it's a good thing the rules were changed.

What are some of you idiots talking about the fight should have been stopped. That is totally absurd. It was a see-saw battle and both men were punching back.

Cotto has great composure under pressure and when he is hurt as well as great recovery abilities.

Why would you assume I only have seen 1 Cotto fight, I like Cotto and I have 7 of his fights on my computer and I've seen all his recent ones live. Plain and simple, he throws low blows, at any weight.

Cotto's chin was suspect at 140, seems to be more sturdy at 147 . . . probably cause he simply recovers faster now that he is not as weight drained.

no ****ing way...Cotto was still fighting and kept composure. He wasn't a sitting duck. I actually had more respect for Miguel after the Torres fight because it showed the heart Cotto had surviving and coming back to stop Torres.

his chin is decent. it's more how he holds his head infront and above his shoulders... he doesnt cover up well either.

i dont think that it was him moving up in wieght which made him better more that his technique and youth and talent wer at there relative peaks. producing great combo and now boxing ability

You mean since the Torres fight? Let's see who did he fight? Malignaggi Power:Very Light. Bracco Power:Light (17 Kayoes in 54 Wins). Quintana Power: Light. Gomez Power: Average. Mosley Power: Good. In fact the only truly decent hitter Cotto has faced since the Torres fight is Mosley. He did well, but his face did get busted up a bit. But there is a difference between Mosley's power and Margarito's. Will be interesting to see what happens.

How convenient of you not to mention Judah:lol: Judah has power and couldn't hurt Cotto...Quintana ia not a light puncher, He has 25 win and 19 Ko's and of course Shane Mosley can hit...no doubt about that. So it's safe to say that he can take a punch.

Miguel Cotto's punch resistance is good at best. It's not awful, but it's not great. I like him, but his chin is not his strongest area.

For instance: Ricardo Torres decked him and had him hurt badly in their see-saw fight of the year. It was a great fight, and Cotto showed great courage in roaring back for the TKO.

How about the Demarcus Corley fight, in which Cotto was hurt badly, but came back, winning a somewhat controversial stoppage in Puerto Rico.

Some say his chin was not quite what is should have been then because he was cutting so much weight. That is a good case, and makes sense.

But more recently, in the third round of the Shane Mosley fight (W12) and the second round of the Judah fight (TKO10), Cotto was somewhat rocked (not quite as bad as before, but he was definitely stunned on these occasions). He comes back everytime.

I would say his chin deserves a "B", but he deserves an "A" in terms of heart and defensive prowess. He got out of ALL of these rough situations and would win everytime.

I watched that fight the other day and said the same thing. He took about 10 clean power shots and about 10 more that landed but not cleanly and he got PUSHED down rather then went down. The guy is a beast.

He was badly hurt, though. I agree, he was pushed, but he would not have gone down had he not been previously hurt by Torres.
