"The reason why I took the fight with Williams is because I wanted to keep my belt," Margarito said. "I have held it for such a long time (six years). I know a lot of fighters would give up their belts for money, but I feel by having a title I can make even more money in a reunification fight." - Antonio Margarito

EDIT: Can't post the link here but the story was all over the place. You can find it easily just google it.

Cotto hasn't sign because the contract hasn't been sent to Caguas yet. Geez, stop the gossip

    That maybe what he said:blood

But that isnt what his manager said, and Arum said.

Look Im not knocking Tony. I think that he did the right thing by pretty much telling Arum to go get fukked.

Its funny how people seem to forget things that dont fit the arguement that they are making. You know damn well that Margo's team rejected the offer to fight Cotto because they felt they were being lowballed. We had 50 threads about it when it happened. Now all of a sudden you cats want to make it seem like it wasnt about money. These guys wouldnt be doing this if they couldnt make money. Its no shame in trying to get paid. For some reason many of the so-called fans tend to think that "getting paid" are a couple of dirty words.

As I stated and it was a direct quote from Arum. "That is what the fight is worth, if they dont like it they can fight Williams" now I dont for one second think that Arum mean it, I think that he was tring to bend Tony over. Tony's team said fine and took the fight with Williams. A fight that Arum didnt even bid on, and he tried to stop. This is stuff that was tossed around on this broad for weeks and you know it.

Amazing how people can stare right into a quote and still proceed to ignore the facts. :-(

its amazing how some people ignore an entire scenario , Margarito quote came after the fact , after arum told him to go fight williams because he was not giving him any more money for the cotto fight.

The fact is that Cotto hasn't agree to the financial terms of the fight ...

hmm ... you guys criticized PBF for him wanting to fight for the right amount ... now that Cotto's doing it ... its not a problem?

Cotto vs. Margarito is Close To a Done Deal

The July 26 showdown between WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito is close to a done deal.
Promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank informed Steve Kim of MaxBoxing.com that a meeting was held on Tuesday with with Miguel Cotto and his representatives to discuss the bout Margarito and the whether the Puerto Rican superstar was in agreement to hold the fight in Las Vegas.
Arum informed Kim that Cotto, like Margarito, is leaning towards the fight being staged in Las Vegas. Margarito has already agreed to the financial terms of the fight. While Cotto has not yet agreed on his end of the financial terms, Arum says the two sides are almost there. The deal is so close that a press tour has already been tentatively scheduled to begin on May 19 and the MGM Grand will be the likely venue to host the event.

"We had a nice meeting," Arum said. "We're moving towards finalizing the deal and everybody, it looks like, is leaning towards having the fight in Las Vegas."

Arum should run for political office ... he's so full of it - and it shows.

Fitzgaylorz just wants somebody to beat Cotto that way PBF will have another excuse not to fight Cotto. Why do you think he was picking Gomez to upset Cotto. He is a floyd boy for real. Just look where he's from.
