Cotto hatred

It's all those thinngs that turned me from a fan into what you would call a hater.
He represents everything that's wrong with the sport right now, while just a couple of years ago he looked like a real warrior.
The things he does right now is exactly what fans agreed with him over the years, when he got shafted with catchweights and other unfair antics and now he himself is even worse.
The thing that they allow him under certain terms to abuse the system, like they do for many of the bigger names is bad enough. But now he even violates those special terms that allow him to cheat other fighters out of their deserved shot at the crown.

It isn't a question if he should have to pay the step aside money, because if he didn't agree to that there wouldn't have been a WBC fight against Canelo for the MW belt, but a non titlefight for the man that beat the man line, and Golovkin had already been champ.

 

Well, it's when you get to option 5, which is "all of the above", that people start to get ticked off just a tad.

yeah there are a few things that aren't perfect....but that makes him no different than most

most of his haters are margarito fanboys...mad that theyre boy is no longer relevant and cotto is making 22 mil for one of the biggest fights of the year.....while margarito is trying to comeback for s****s and nobody cares.....and that cotto outboxed the dog urine out of him for most of their two meetings(as ive said this isn't much of a feat as margarito blows)

the other group are ggg fans.....ive said many times and most cant understand this...I don't hate ggg...I like him...I think hes real good...not once have I ever said a negative word about his skills/ability.......but as a couple people have mentioned yesterday this guy doesn't need his fans making a million excuses all of the time....ggg knows how the game is played and he seems more than fine with playing along....guy is making 2 mil for fighting c/b- level comp on hbo....hes getting a ppv fight against a guy that doesn't belong there really and making some good money....he was looking at 800k to sit back and let canelo/ggg fight.....no problem going along with that right?....this guy doesn't need people constantly making excuses and whining for him...he knows exactly whats going on and what hes doing....but his fans always want to point the finger elsewhere at someone else as the reason why this guy is sitting back and feasting on the likes of geale and Monroe.....and will prob be feasting on heiland and Johnson soon .....try looking in the mirror for once ggg fans and stop looking at every other guy as a scapegoat

like I said look at kovalev...guy comes with a similar rep too ggg....feared reaper of death....obvious top dog of division.....yet he got a 50 year old Hopkins to fight him....he caved pascals head in and pascal wants to do it again?!?!....hes able to get fights....why cant ggg? don't tell me it has to do with belts

as far as cotto.....hes had a real good career...hof career....been in big events and fights.....faced the best his division and the game had to offer.....hes at the end of his career and seized and opportunity given to him by Martinez...and hes playing the game to the tune of a huge payday here...hes earned it and is on his way out....no need to bash the guy.....hes a blown up welter who doesn't belong in the ring with ggg(who is chasing fights at 168).....let cotto be and stop looking at cotto as the reason why there is no real growth to gggs career

 

Exactly. I'd also add that he won nearly all of his titles whilst they were vacant too.

I supported him early on in his career but you can only justify this type of behaviour for so long. F Cotto.

It's both him and the WBC, of course WBC deserves far more critique than Cotto because ultimately any boxer will be looking out for himself rather than what's the best for the sport.

WBC IMO need to be investigated for corruption or GGG needs to sue them if they do not follow through with the promise they made for GGG regarding his mandatory shot, enough is enough.
