There are two things that will keep Cotto from beating Pac, IMO, and this is coming from someone who has Cotto as their fav active fighter.

His stamina. Cottos stamina isnt bad when he is allowed to fight his fight, but when pushed constantly, he becomes fatigued badly down the stretch. This is a horrible weakness to have against the likes of Pac.

And I hate to say this, and this is not 'hating', but stating just an opinion as a fan, but I just dont know if Cotto is 'tough' enough anymore to beat Pac. What I mean is, while Cotto has shown he is without a doubt a warrior, and that is one of the reasons why he is one of my favs, in order for Cotto to beat Pac he will need to be able to gut it out for 12 rounds.

I honestly believe that SKILL WISE, Cotto is right there with Pac.... when he sticks behind his jab, uses his movement and sticks to boxing, he can be competetive with Pac early on. But Pac closes that gap round by round, ever so slightly, and there will come that round where Pac has Cotto in deep water, and I will be honest, I DO doubt if Cotto has that internal toughness to not go into retreat mode and start giving away rounds. You can not give up rounds to Pac and expect to win.

SO, in my eyes, if Cotto is to beat Pac, he HAS to base it on his skills. Throw the 'bigger', 'stronger' attitude away (the attitude that had him trying to walk Pac down in rounds 2,3,4 in their fight after boxing nicely in round 1)

If he can keep this a boxing match, I can see him being ahead after 7 rounds (if Pac hasnt cought him hard with a KD shot by then), but even then, I simply dont see him having enough to withstand a Pac surge in the championship rounds.... and in these kinds of fights, championship rounds is often where the fights are won and lost.

That is my honest opinion. I have nothing but love and respect for Cotto, my fav fighter, but it is what it is, in my eyes.

In a Margarito rematch, Cotto will once again lead early and I expect the fight to once again become scary down the stretch. I believe though, that with a little more conditioning, and a bit more holding perhaps, that Cotto can capture a very, very close decision.

But what most people I think, are missing, and missed before their first matchup as well when every other person was talking about how easy this fight was going to be, is that Margarito WILL ALWAYS be a bad match-up for Cotto. And I expect a rematch to show that, once again. I def think Cotto could win a rematch though, especially given that I dont think Margarito is the same fighter he was when he beat Cotto (but on the flip-side, Cotto is far removed from the fighter of that night as well)

Interesting, interesting fight. I can see eather guy winning this one and its a fight that I would be very nervous for as a Cotto fan, but one I think is right to be made and I hope Cotto could put it all together and get the W, it would be a nice avenged defeat. Cotto has only lost 2 fights and he would have avenged one of them, that would be a nice plus to his legacy, especially given all the top fighters hes fought.

Margarito vs Cotto 2 is a nice fight for both guys right now, will be pumped for it.

I have almost no interest in a Cotto vs Pac 2 fight. Pac should not even be entertaining this fight.... What has happened with Pac and team? That is another topic for another time I suppose.

    Just IMO

I am a firm believer he can beat MArgo. But Steward will not make any difference if Cotto doesn't start training as hard as he used to up to the Mosley fight. When he beat Mosley he got possessed by the "I cant lose" demon. LOL. And we know the rest of the story. Of course he dominated Gomez, but just because Gomez never belong to that level

but manny didn't do anything spectacular after the knockdowns he didn't know how to cut the ring all he did was follow cotto around and if cotto would have used his jab manny would have thought twice before committing himself in cotto's range

Would love Cotto to beat Margarito but I think Margarito beats Cotto 85% of the time.

Are you serious? Did you watch the fight? Pac was countering Cotto the whole time up to the 10th or 11th round:

But I'd say he beats Margarito. I'm even more convinced of that given the absolute beating & a half Margarito took from Pacquiao!

Margarito may never be the same again!

Both suffered the same defeat against Pac.
