This. While I didn't give Cotto more than four rounds, and I doubt anybody else did, often the person with the worst perspective on how the fight went is the fighter himself. Even though the fight wasn't all that close, there were several rounds that were. I can see Cotto in there thinking to himself, "I got that one!", especially if he's internally comparing them to how ineffective previous opponents have been against Mayweather.
I gave Cotto 4 rounds.... I was very impressed with PBF's ability to not get hit with Cotto's right... that lift of the left shoulder and body twist was very effective. When PBF needed the points he would just land that right (at will) and then added the uppercut. while I do think PBF was tested big in this fight, his mid fight adjustments is what won him the fight...... I still like Cotto vey much.... but no way cotto won the fight.. even though im not a PBF fan,(don't hate him either) I give credit where credit is due and deserved
Cotto won the 6th clearly and nicked the 8th...Floyd dominated 8 rounds and won another 2 clearly. Not even close. Great effort from Cotto though and he did better than I expected, amazed he managed to touch Floyd so much with the jab.
That was his best performance so far against a well-known defensive and counterpunching wizard, and you'd think he was one-dimensional? :huh:verysad
Cotto fought like a boss last night. His new trainer is working wonders. He still lost but he fought great and is still the best JMW besides Floyd.
I had it 116-112 for Mayweather, but I could definitely see 117-111. Cotto won 3 or 4 rounds in a competitive fight. I was THRILLED with Cotto! He did better than I thought he would. I was rooting for Miguel all the way, but I give props to Mr. Mayweather. He has all the heart in the world inside that ring.
Cotto gave everything he had last night, and boxed better than anyone aside from his most loyal fans had a right to expect. When someone fights their heart out and leaves it all inside the ring, it's completely understandable why they would feel disappointed and embittered when the decision goes against them. That being said, MAC's bittereness, while understandable, isn't really all that justified. He won two rounds clearly, and likely deserved a couple more. And in the span of time that extended from rounds 3-10, quite a few of them were bitterly contested. But Mayweather landed the cleaner shots in many of those frames, and also landed more. It was a really good fight, and a competitive one. But it wasn't really all that close, even if Cotto'sm performance exceeded expectations.
I had Cotto winning 2 rounds, and that's being generous, he couldn't land **** all! Some nice body work and some nice Jabs but overall the better shots were coming from Floyd all night long.
Cotto lost by 1 round the 12th! in my opinion... fight was good fight and if you watch in mute without Hbo's cheerleading, you will see a different fight, thats what i did anyways
