Everyone always train to their best when fighting FLoyd. Instant superstar if you beat the man.

Id say he rehydrates to 160 after the way in and probably carries a bit of water weight when walking around a few weeks after a fight! so 170 doesnt seem an unreasonable weight! but i agree with you 165 would be ideal but fighters now a days only fight twice per year so its probably hard to stay as disciplined.

Shouldn't he be in the best shape for every fight that doesn't make since when a fighter says that he has had big fights and came up short (although they shouldn't count against him because of Pac we know what he does and Margarito we know what he did) but walking around at 170 he's not doing to much running

170 isn't so bad. What matters in terms of weight is your diet and water intake. Right now, there's no reason to cut while he's just starting out. Once he's trained well, shed some weight through his conditioning, and built up his strength, then the last pounds will come off.

170 is good weight for a boxer who fights @154.

I remember hearing Juan Manuel Lopez and Ricky Hatton ballooning up to as much as 180lbs!!

He'll need it. Good to see he's taking this very serious, as another poster said, him beating Floyd would give him a huge boost in stardom. And he's already like the 3rd largest active PPV star.

  9. Im starting to think Cottos got a very good chance in this fight..

Cotto: I will fight Pacquiao at 145 and no less...145 and I will kick PAC ass.

PAC: 143 and we have a fight.

Cotto: FU...145 and I kick your ass.

PAC: F it, lets do it at 145.

Cotto: I'm in the best shape of my life at 145, the weight is no problem.

After Cotto got his ass kicked...Cotto: I not going to let PAC drain me again, 154 or no fight .

He would've been a more effective fighter, and maybe even adapted batter to the style change, I dunno... if he didn't have to spend the majority of his camp all focused on dropping 45 to 40 pounds.
    Still, Hatton was a stud.

Hatton was a badass! He always seemed to have good stamina, but dropping and gaining that much weight took its toll and definetely shortened his career.
