I just think Cotto is getting sick and tired of everyone underestimating him. He hasn't been getting any recognition from the Clottey fight, and still gets ridiculed about the Margo fight. I think we're going to see a really beast Cotto during fight night.

One of the dumbest things I've ever read on these boards. That quality is the likes of Nallege, Finito, etc. Seriously Scar, you're better than that and you know Miguel is much more skilled than Hatton ever was.
I think he could have said it better than he did. But the fact remains, he is a MUCH better fighter than Hatton, and will be 10x harder a match up for Pac. I'm leaning towards Pac for this one, but it just so close. If Pac can handle a blow from a true Welter like Cotto, Cotto is in trouble.
Let's see Cotto in the ring with the likes of a Mayweather or a Pacquiao without any advantage before we make a statement like that. Cotto is a bull with pretty good skills, that's about it. Just like Hatton.
I'd say they are comparably effective. Neither have skills that boggle the mind, both are steady. What's your take, TFFP?
Imagine Mosley - Hatton at 147. And I don't mean tomorrow, I mean the Hatton that fought Collazo. It's still comical.
Is Hatton steady? He looked erratic. I'm not sure. It helps that Cotto has an effective jab, I've a feeling that will be most effective as a counter rather than leading. Infact, that is where I see something slightly different because I don't anticipate Cotto chasing Pacquiao constantly as Hatton did, he can counterpunch too, although the right hand Pac is susceptible is not a strong point, his jab may well be. If it turns out the other way Cotto is more methodical in his attack, he keeps his hands higher than Hatton who is always anticipating a body shot and keeps his hands lower.
Steady, indeed. Steady, consistent.. Steadily grinding down everyone he ever faced pretty much, barring a few notable exceptions. We're not talking "steady" in terms of tight-rope walking, of course. I agree with what you're saying about Cotto's countering and patience - huge factors. I've made some similar statements. Cotto is far more outward and direct about protecting himself than Hatton ever was, undoubtedly.
How do you anticipate the flow of the fight, how will it play out? Presuming Pacquiao comes in and does what he does, that doesn't seem to change all that much. Is Cotto going forwards or standing off and waiting? Do you expect a big change in dynamic at some point in the fight?
I'd say that Cotto is alot smarter in the ring - but "far more talented" - hell no. I've seen literally every fight in the career of both of these fighters and have a general preference towards Cotto, in fact.. But I'm not going to get carried away. You must think Hatton's whole career has been an illusion, yeah?
