Speaking about one's deceased mother isnt so bad. Depending on the tone and direction of the conversation...

Saying Yo Momma jokes to someone you have clear knowledge of their deceased mother is just plain assholeness...

Cotto has said nothing more than Hatton is overrated...and he was being honest. He's right too. It's not like he's saying some **** people aren't already thinking...

    Im actually seeing that too...

The quote that concerned me the most was his more serious tone in "Pacquiao has fought a lot of tough fighters but never one like me."

Maybe its just me...but that had a very sinister implication behind it. I think he's out to seriously HURT Manny. Maybe not :think

You mean mad, right? Less mad?

Say somebody gives you an insult - do you cry? Is that your way?

link? kinda hard to believe. but if it's true then i've lost some respect for the guy... IMO it's already low to say "Im no _____" but to say someone is overrated is just disrepectful especially if he has never dissed you

but to say something as "negative" as that is just wrong.. you might think it's just a simple word but it really means that he has no respect for your skills, you achievement, and your career. if he thinks that way he should just keep it to himself.

Cotto has fought 'much better' competition?

Hatton: Mayweather, Pacquiao, Tszyu, Castillo, Malignaggi, Urango
Cotto: Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, Judah, Malignaggi, Quintana

    Really?

Did cotto insult you then, when he said what he said?

I dont understand why people get so "mad" about this type of talk, it isnt even that trashy.

Cotto: "Hey Freddie, I am Not De La Hoya or Hatton"

Miguel Cotto wants to send a message to Freddie Roach, the trainer of Manny Pacquiao - "be ready for a war." Cotto doesn't want Roach to think Pacquiao will have an easy night on November 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Cotto does not want to be compared to Pacquiao's most recent victims, Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.

"I have some news for Freddie, I am not Oscar De La Hoya who was caught at the end of his career, and I am not overrated like Ricky Hatton. Roach knows what Pacquiao will be facing on November 14. It will be a war," Cotto told Primera Hora.

Hatton - Mayweather, Pac, Zoo, Castillo, Malignaggi, Urango, Collazo
Cotto - Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, Judah, Malignaggi, Quintana, Torres, Bailey, and soon you can add Pac to this list as well.

Also... out of hattons resume, hes been stopped twice, destroyed once, with one going eather way (collazo) and one ugly

Cotto has been stopped once (loaded gloves?) has had two close ones (mosley, clottey) and destroyed the rest

    Also...
Mosley is better then any of hattons wins, clottey at this stage is under hattons win over zoo at their stage, Judah is a better win then urango, and i hold hattons collazo win higher then cottos quintana one, though the manner in which cotto destroys him makes it a more impressive fight in actuality.

Imo... yes, without question cotto has a better resume in terms of number of quality wins, the quality of the fighters hes beaten themselves, and their performances in those fights.

    Just IMO :good

Cotto will win and here's why. He's pretty much proven that he can win under all types of circumstances. He's come back from being seriously hurt (Torres), he's overcome being badly cut (Clottey), he's been hurt early (Judah, Corley), he won with speed against Mosley, and he's faced and beaten all types of different fighters and styles. There's no need to even touch the Margarito "fight." Some fighters just have a knack for winning and Cotto is one of those guys.

I would rate them the same based on general ability. Both aren't too difficult to catch though I'll admit Cotto is SLIGHTLY better defensively still he's no defensive fighter and catching him is easy. He did very good at Jr. Welterweight but didn't dominate the division due to his inability to make weight. Cotto's biggest win is against a past it Mosley and Hatton's best win is against a past it Tszyu.

People seem to be totally shitting on Hatton lately due to two losses against P4P#1 fighters and I think it's very silly to do so, the man was able to fight and is a very very good fighter. Cotto is slightly better, not way better which is why I have both in the same category. Being in the same category as Hatton DOESN'T mean he sucks, Hatton doesn't suck at all and not close.

Both have their share of struggling in the ring against different opposition. Hatton struggling with Collazo, dropped against McGee, close fight with Tszyu and whatever else. Cotto also had his share of similar situations against Maussa, Abdulaev, Judah, Corley, Clottey, Torres and whoever else.

Point is, both have their flaws and both are good but flaws are clearly there and it takes an A class fighter to exploit them.

Well you can construct those arguments and I simply compared the opposition (the point I was responding to was simply that Cotto had fought better competition, not the results or nature of those fights).

Tszyu was certainly ranked much more highly that Mosley going into their respective fights (P4P number three, Mosley, somewhere in the teens). Tszyu had also completely destroyed his last opponent, whereas Mosley was unimpressive and Hatton had the more dominant win, stopping Tszyu as compared to a close points win (which some disputed) for Cotto. So certainly Tszyu would have been seen as the much better win going in (indeed Hatton was underdog whereas I think Cotto was favoured to beat Mosley). The only argument you can construct for Mosley being the better win was that Tszyu did nothing subsequently whereas Mosley beat Margarito. But then Margarito was only considered such a good win due to his victory over Cotto, which you now cast doubt on....
