please...they picked him because they thought he was garbage like ricky and weight drained delahoya...so he letting them know that listen im not garbage like hatton and im coming in to bring pain..u picked me like i was some bum and know im gonna make u pay...thats all he saying...so u **** off u *******...lame ass thread
I disagree to an extent, simply because your only giving one side of the argument. Manny was trying to clean up at every weight class he could and Ricky was still the number 1 at LWW before they fought. Ricky Hatton's huge, worldwide fan base obviously played a role in the Floyd and Manny fights taking place - they were guaranteed a huge pay day, but don't forget that Hatton was the number one at 140 lbs and also undefeated going into the Floyd fight. He had definitely earned the fight with Floyd. He got the fight with Manny due to his appeal and the fact Manny was trying to reign at every weight division he could - Hatton just happened to be the next on the list in my opinion.
Their about even, just Cotto is bigger and stronger. At 140 it was a 50/50 fight. Resume wise, they are again even. Kostya-Mosley - Even wins Mallignagi - Mallignagi This shows how even they are, I think both dominated Mallignagi equally. Clottey - Collazo - Both controversial, I give the edge to Clottey as he was the tougher opponent. Urango - Quintana - Advantage Cotto though not by much. Maussa - Maussa - Again even. Castillo - Judah - Both past it but then again, but Hatton was a lot more impressive in his win, advantage Cotto though as Judah was still a threat. Both lost by KO. People will mention Hatton got rocked by Lazcano...so what? This is a boxing match, anyone can get rocked if caught. Lazcano is a former LW...wow, did you guys not see what a former flyweight did recently? Besides, Pac got rocked by Larios, a guy coming up in weight...doesnt mean Pac was then past it or his punch resistance had gone.
collazo whopped hatton a washed lazcano almost knocked him out and he beat a way past his prime kostya...ricky was a b-level domestic fighter...that is why he never fought bum ass junior witter cuz he knew witter had some pop and speed that he couldnt handle...david diaz is a bum..so yea WAR COTTO!
That was painful to read. One is clearly an average figther that is a product of a well oiled match making machine and the other is an amazing boxer with a track record of fighting the best. Once Hatton crossed the pond he was clearly in-over his head.
Hatton is not on cottos level....he only got the exposure because of his massive fan base....his wins besides paulie malignaggi were agint past there prime fighters and a suspect decision against collazo....lazcano brang that heat and he was past his prime 4yrs ago...another lame thread...cotto is saying that he is not ricky or oscar and that he coming to bring pain...hop off pacs nuts and let the truth be told about his last two wins....hatton weight drained at the weigh IN(look at the pics, the man look sick) ,bad after fight habits and b-level and oscar weight drained and past his prime
atsch Yeah i suppose crossing the pond and beating Collazo at Welterweight then beating Urango and stopping Castillo before being beaten by the number one fighter on the planet really showed Hatton up??
Hatton survived the Collazo fight - that is a fact. Urango - ??? (what the hell) Can you honestly say that Hatton beats Castillo, prime per prime? Hatton is a C-level fighter that rose to fame by getting away with a lot of dirty **** with an old Tszyu. He has a tremendous heart, but sadly he could have risen to B level if he could have controlled himself between fights.
I think Cotto sees a lot of parallels between himself and Hatton and it scares him. Both were undefeated fighters who were battered and went out on their shields in route to their first loss(Well, Hatton went out on his shield. Cotto went on his knees). Both also had one dominant and one shaky outting after their beating. Hatton then followed that up by getting lambasted by Pac. Now Cotto is fighting Pac. I think the possiblity of him ending up like Hatton has shaken him up a bit. His low class, unneccesary, cheap shots at Hatton are his attempt to cover up his fractured confidence.
On paper you can maybe make a case that they are about even but if you watch them fight then you know right away.
