Yes, I'm boricua and I like Cotto as a fighter a lot. I've enjoyed all of his fights. However, if he doesn't change his corner he's going to be in for a Looooooong Night! If he hasn't seen that his ring tactics are obviously flawed, Open for Uppercuts and an inability to Clutch and hold, he needs someone else to manage his career! It's like the old saying a lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client can be said for a boxer as well. In his interview with Nuevo Dia he states that he's not changing anything in his corner. Problem is that the last few fights he's had trouble with, in Clottey and Margo, he seems to not know how to grab and Hold in a tactical way! I mean this is rudimentary knowledge in boxing but yet he doesn't know how to apply this simple tactic. And against some of the hardest hitters in the division he wasn't able to do it which gave him trouble in the latter rounds. As well as his being hit with triple uppercuts by Clottey! He's got to change his Trainer!

Freddie Roach will key in on these deficiencies and expose him like no one else. He NEEDS a defensive Minded trainer who can teach him HOW to hold. I know its not his "style" to hold but for all intents and purposes he needs to learn this tactic like Yesterday! Again I think he is a strong fighter who is going to pose Manny alot of problems but he needs a NEW TRAINER! Ok that was my rant! Peace

if you want him to clinch a lot...... Manny Steward.
If you want him to loose a lot....... Buddy McGirt
If you want him to fight weight drained, shot and tomato cans....... Roach

    Some options there.

floyd mayweather would be a good fit for him or even nacho berastain but i doubt that would happen...he needs a new trainer though.

Mayweather isn't a good fit for anyone. he is garbage as a trainer. He would just try to turn Miguel into a shoulder rolling slickster. Joe Goosen is the right guy for him.

Beristan is who he needs. I can see Miguel being able to be molded into a precise counter puncher.
With his chin taht would be the best option for him. He should not be exchanging like he does.

I don't know about needing a new head trainer, but I cannot for the life of me understand why he got rid of Miquel Diaz. Diaz is a lot more than a good cut man. He is also a very astute observer, and often plays a major roll in the fight itself.

Very true,i dont think theres a guy out there that has worked in more fighters corner's than Diaz the guy has seen it all in the ring and his experience would help Cotto alot.

With Corley and Torres he was able to clinch and also bob and weave his way out of trouble,he needs to go back to that.. Ill say Nacho because he is very familiar with Pacs style...

My opinion of Diaz is so high that when I saw him at MSG for Cotto/Jennings I had a freaking panic attack because I realized he could not be in Youngstown with Kelly on the same night:yikes

Miguel Diaz is tremendous I agree. I just wonder why he hasn't gotten more opportunities as the lead man. Maybe he doesn't do well organizing camps and what not?

Rudy Perez (MAB's old trainer would be a solid choice). Last I checked he was working with Izzy Vasquez. Remember Cotto's english is close but still not perfect. He probably wouldn't deal well with an english speaking trainer only.
