So he could have a 12 round fight for the WORLD MW championship against Canelo. He will lose in court easy, all the marketing says this fight is for the MW championship, so you could argue the PPV wouldn't have gotten as much as it will if it wasn't.

I wonder is Cotto is gonna be announced as former MW champ at the fight. :rofl

The WBC is the worst of the "organizations " Let's focus on the positive. The WBC while not get screwed at least is not getting paid! It doesn't matter. GGG is the man at Middleweight. The refusal of the winner to fight him only proves that .

If he was a real A side he would've laid that rehydration clause on Canelo
Also, $800k step aside money to GGG lol. That's some real A side power move

I agree with you in spirit but the obstacles to that fight are clear and even if they weren't I'd imagine Willie Monroe took a fraction of what Lara would want.

The other prob is, GGG almost certainly scores a highlight reel KO over the less than sturdy Lara leading all of detractors to start crying about him fighting 154lbers.

They were looking for champions but also names. The notion that any promoter, never mind a start-up, would turn down a top 4 draw in the US like Cotto simply because he lacked a trinket is asinine.

The top 4 draw wants more money than he actually draws. Doesn't seem to be a smart business move. The whole trio of Cotto/Ward/Rigo will cost RocNation millions of losses. Maybe they wanted to have elite fighters to attract young prospects, but still they may be paying too much for that.

Why would Cotto pay step aside money for a belt he no longer has? That makes zero sense. I'm a big GGG fan,but this has nothing to do with Cotto, and all to do with WBC. Bottom line, you don't pay for what you don't have.

The belt is no longer his is purely due to him not paying the sanctioning fee. Why should Golovkin be affected by Cotto's decision to drop the belt.

Golovkin fulfilled his part of agreement -- he stepped aside allowing Cotto to fight Canelo for the WBC title and thus have more leverage to push his demands including the higher purse split.
