    It says he doesn't know if he will have to pay the step aside fee, that he has to check. That tells me he is going to do whatever he is legally obligated to do, which is no more or less than what anyone else would do.

    Some people actually keep their word regardless of legal obligations.

    Either you father taught you what decency is or he didn't. Cotto's father neglected that.

    In the article it says that Sulaiman said Cotto promised he would fight Golovkin if he was victorious against Canelo, nothing about promising to pay step aside money. Also, it does not say when Cotto said he would fight Golovkin.

    So, he didn't promise anything, Golovkin stepped aside for free and then the 800k number suddenly came up ??? Of course, he promised. The question is if he did it in writing or they believed his word which is clearly worth nothing.

    Like I said before, how do you know if they even put him in the position to promise anything? How do you know if they just didn't inform of what needed to happen if he was to keep the belt, which is pay 300k sanction, and 800k step aside? It's more than likely their bad for just assuming he wanted to keep the belt.

    Cotto had to fight Golovkin next. WBC only allowed the Canelo fight, because Cotto agreed to pay Golovkin to step aside. Basically, Cotto needed to pay 800k to face a softer opponent and earn $10-30 million for that. If Cotto thought that it was too much and he was an honest person, he should have dropped the belt at that time and face Canelo in a non-title fight.

    Its amateur hour at Roc Nation. But they seem to cater too much to these few fighters they have. I guess they like to lose money.
