Why are you taking this so personal? You act like you are being directly impacted by Cotto's actions.
Yes, it is Golovkin's fault that people drop belts in order to avoid him. He is way too good not leaving them ANY hope of success. He should show more vulnerability.
Cotto fought Austin Trout for 1 million dollars and Delvin Rodriguez for 2 million. He just fought Geale for 15 million and is getting 30 million to fight Canelo. You do the math. If Golovkin had that belt, that is all his money. He'd be getting the fight with Canelo. He'd be making 30 million dollars instead of Cotto. So basically, by ducking the rightful challenger and keeping the belt hostage for two years, Cotto is de facto robbing Golovkin. The step aside money is chicken feed compared to what Cotto is making off the belt's prestige. You ever wonder why Floyd Mayweather always boasts about how many champions he's beaten and how many belts he has? Belts are a bargaining chip. They multiply a fighter's earning potential. It's simple economics. Canelo doesn't fight Cotto without a belt on the line. He certainly doesn't take 1/6th as much money for the fight without the belt being on the line. If Cotto didn't have the belt, then Cotto would get much less money for the same fight, or he doesn't get the fight at all and Canelo fights Golovkin.
I can't speak for anyone else but the WBC title is not why I may purchase this fight. The reason I will probably purchase it is because Cotto v Alvarez should be a good fight. Don't take this stuff so seriously. You aren't going to change a thing except maybe alienate more people. There should be a lot of other things in your life that are more pressing than the bs that goes on in the boxing world.
The thing that kills me is these guys try to dragged down other fighters making bad comparasions in hopes of trying to make GGG look good then wanna cry racism. Every fighter is gonna have haters no matter how good you are, but universally guys like Wlad are respected because hes been dominating #1&2 contenders for a decade. Recent win over guys like Haye, Provetkin,Jennings **** on GGGs whole resume, even the bout with Fury next week Tyson is a highly thought of contender something GGG knows nothing about. Or Kovalev he did what he had to do to get **** done thats why he has 3 Title's & Hopkins, Pascal, & soon to be Ward on his resume. So while you guys were crying about facing Ward next year Kovalev took the same deal basically why because Ward is a top fighter and Kova wanted to fight the best. How about Loma who fought a proven world class vet in Salido in his 2nd fight, he lost but for his risk directly after he fought and beat Russell to become a champ. These guys are real badasses not that fake **** GGG tries to portray, these fighters made **** happen none of them were content with fighting bums hoping for a handout. The only similarity between GGG and them is there European . Stop cosigning a hypejob and back some REAL fighters
Yes, I think the belt multiplies viewers and revenue. More people will watch a fight, or pay to see a fight if there is a title on the line. People demand quality, and the belt system is a way of ensuring quality. The casual fans don't know who the stars of the sport are. All they have to go on is who has a belt and who doesn't. That is why the PBC are going to make their own belts; so that when their fighters lose championship belts to fighters they don't have a contract with they can't take the PBC belt to another network or country. Same as the UFC or Glory kickboxing. The belt stays with the promotion, and they can ensure that every episode will have at least one title fight to keep fans happy. Belts make money. If you don't believe that, then consult the purse history of fighters before and after they captured a belt. It doesn't just increase, it multiplies earning power.
I actually respect your passion however I truly believe you've taken this way out of proportion by sensationalizing this entire scenario. Whatever keeps you ticking during the day ..enjoy your enteral misery.
Golovkin is not a begger, but let's suppose he was. Is deceiving a weaker person honorable in your opinion ?
How was he decieved? Cotto by all accounts was willing to pay the 800k to put on a bigger fight, tried to negotiate with the WBC to keep his title, they stripped him. being willing to put up 900k but not 1.1mil isn't deceiving its smart.
Cotto deceived Golovkin. He promised to pay him 800k for ducking him, Gennady stepped aside and now Cotto refuses to pay. A size of the sanctioning fee (which was by the way known all the time) has nothing to do with agreement between Cotto and Golovkin. Cotto is using jail reasoning: I can f^ck you up, so I will.
lol It's hard to believe that you have any friends but I know you have to be a different person when you are not on the internet so I guess it's not outside the realm of possibility. I guess I will be a fool because not only will I pay the full price but I will also pay for HD because it should be a good fight. I don't feel bad about buying it because I saved money by not purchasing that Golovkin v Lemieux farcical fight that involved title belts.
