Very good fighter but not great.

Great for his fans, bad for the sport and for true fight fans...

Was a great fighter, theres no denying that. Was always regarded a Top 5 Contender in whatever weight class he chose too fight at throughout the years. Last night was the simple fact of, everybody underestimated Sadam Ali, myself included, i thought Cotto would hit too hard for him. However Ali, to his credit was fantastic, enjoy your retirement Cotto, cheers for some great fights!

Great fighter? LMFAO!! A good fighter, but one whose fake act got tiresome after a while. Only ODLH's fake act stinks more.

I'm glad he got his ass kicked in front of his hometown fans. Nothing better than seeing their gloomy faces as they walked out of the arena.

dude you just contradicted yourself Wlad got KOd plenty of times. Im not gonna get on here and say he is an atg because he is nit but he is great because he had a career of good fights 4 weight champion and lost only to the best of the best. Imo he is in the same boat as Marquez, Hattom, Mosley and many other fighters who even though they are not the best they are at the top.

I agree. He lost to most of the top guys he fought except Mosley who was older. I don't see how he was great. And Margarito. The first fight he was just overwhelmed. That is not a great.. A very very good fighter. Hall of fame maybe but great? No..

Typical Pinky Cotto Prima Donna Excuse " Margarito used plaster to beat me "
Prove it Pinky or be a man for once & admit The Tijuana Tornado LEGITIMATELY kicked your ass & made you kneel in submission & QUIT!!!

Cotto should have fought Golovkin, but instead he fought Martinez when Martinez was a cripple!

Took on the best in his prime, usually coming up short, but provided some really really good fights. The last few years of his career were a bit ****ing tedious at times to be honest and he has been a bit of a diva but his legacy remains. Will always be a bit annoyed at all the vacant title shots and the lack of trying to ever really unify a division, but it is what it is.

Kinda sad to see him go, kinda glad the un-ranked guy he dragged up a division for a showcase beat him.

I want to know what went trough Cotto's mind once he found out that Sadam wasn't a cripple. He'll probably have some words with his scouts... firing them wouldn't be much help because he retired anyway.

The only thing I hold against Cotto was letting his team say he was too green to face Floyd at 140.....other than that....he was a very good top fighter during his time.
