Who won the first fight between Margarito and Cotto? Margarito. The version Cotto beat was trash... Martinez fought Margarito 14 years ago, after only being in the sport of boxing for 5 years (not as a pro, as in actually training boxing). It makes no sense to compare that. Your reading comprehension sucks too. I said that the guys I listed would beat Cotto, I never said it was the reason that Sergio would beat Cotto. Learn to read please.
well I'm comparing it to Pavlik getting the snot beat out of him even worse by Martinez (who was not quite as highly rated as Pac was p4p).
There is no comparison, Martinez vs Pavlik was a competitive fight (you do know Pavlik knocked Martinez down right) which Martinez won 8-4 taking over the second half of the fight, Cotto vs Pac was somewhat competitive for 2 rounds before Cotta was smashed down twice & firmly put into survival mode for the remainder, before getting a mercy call stoppage from the ref. Cotto's face said it all after the fight, he looked as if the schoolyard bully had just slapped him and taken his lunch money.
--Margarito needs face surgery after Pacquiao. Margarito will have surgery on Tuesday at Dallas Methodist Hospital to repair a fractured right eye socket.-- --Margarito was not cleared by the New York State Athletic Commision to fight Cotto until Nov. 23, this, as a result of an injury to his right eye which occurred during a November unanimous decision loss to Manny Pacquiao, against whom Margarito suffered a fractured right orbital bone that required surgery to repair. In May, Margarito had an artificial lens placed into the eye by Dr. Alan S. Crandall of the John Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, who also removed a cataract. Crandall will be at ringside on Saturday night. So with that in mind, Smoger appears to be a favorable entry for the Margarito camp, considering his recent history with Wolak and concerns about a premature stoppage based on the pre-existing conditions surrounding Margaritos eye.-- http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2kzCiX94X...Y/ancDRs2z_ng/s1600/pacquiao_vs_margarito.jpg
I think there is a comparison but you are right, my memory failed me, Cotto did get beat up worse. However most people would consider that version of Pac better than any version of Sergio, he may have even been on PED's.
Taylor got the W over Hopkins at 160 - TWICE. How many guys can say they did that? Not better than Mosley or Judah? LOL... Those must be some good drugs you smokin' over there. When Shane faced Cotto, he had not beaten a welterweight of note in *7* years. Judah hadn't won a fight in over *2* years. Taylor, on the other hand, had handed Hopkins two straight loses *and* was undefeated. Stop smoking the heroin... Talking out of your ass again. You need to leave the heroin alone. A title is not a "title", Genius. Paper titles mean jack and ****. Cotto has not held a LINEAL title for the whole of his professional career. LINEAL titles **** all over PAPER titles, Genius. You're kidding, right? It's an open secret that Cotto wanted NO parts of Floyd when he was at 140. And NOBODY rated Cotto the best at 140. NOBODY. When talking about the best guys at 140 during Cotto's tenure there, the conversation was about Tszyu, Floyd or Hatton. Cotto was not in that conversation. And still, Cotto *NEVER* beat the best guy at 147lbs. NEVER. WTF are you talking about? Cotto has never held a title at any weight. NEVER. Paper titles are MEANINGLESS... WTF? Getting the snot beat out of you counts as a "good performance"? LOL... Please leave the heroin ALONE. Pavlik beat better opposition, Genius...
Hey Genius, this ain't about who lost to the better comp. It's about who BEAT the better comp. Pavlik has beaten the better opposition, period - end of.
who got caught cheating? margarito who's wins under capetillo have now all become suspect? margarito who's banned for life in the u.s.? capetillo doesn't matter how or when martinez got his ass beat by margarito...my point was that he got his ass beat by margarito.
his eye and back was fcuked up going into the fight with shane. brother nazim caught them cheating. mosley beat the living dog **** outta the cheater. period. end of story. his "win" against cotto was his last hurrah...he did absolutely nothing after that fight but get his ass handed to him over and over.
He out boxed Mosley and in some rounds he out boxed Mayweather. The man knows how to box and believe it or not, he has learned how to blend his boxing with his fighting. Sergio hasn't faced a man yet with Cotto's ring IQ. He is in for a rude awakening. Sergio has size and power but I don't think Cotto will get hit flush enough for Sergio's power to change the fight drastically. Cotto has been in with more top flight fighters than Sergio and whether he won or not is irrelevant. What matters is that he learned and grew from those encounters. Sergio hasn't changed and while that **** was good enough for his previous fights, he is stepping into a different league as far as boxing IQ goes. Cotto has a game plan.
if he goes in there following sergio in straight lines like he did against trout...i think sergio ko's him. i'm hoping he uses lateral movement to cut the ring along with good head movement and a constant body attack. when you force martinez into exchanges he gets sloppy. cotto can win this fight...but if martinez has anything left...it's not going to be easy.
OK... Uh MY POINT was that you didn't understand my post at all. You responded to my post saying that who Martinez beat had no bearing on how Martinez/Cotto would go. Which had NOTHING to do with what I said. The OP stated that Cotto was a step up. MY response was that THIS VERSION of Cotto would lose to the versions of fighters that I mentioned. While what you said above is (almost all) correct, it has nothing to do with my original post.
