The same that happened to Irish and Jewish fighter. We're not the leading immigrants in America anymore. Now we see tons of Latinos instead.

I'm not particularly sure how he was regarded other than definitely being the linear champion, and a known hitter. I know Locche had quite a considerable quality of experience on him when they fought. He'd already been in with the likes of Ismael Laguna and Carlos Ortiz. Here's one of the few Fuji fights I've found on youtube. If nothing else, I think everyone knew he could hit like a mammajamma. Which is hard.

Don't get snippet with me. I couldn't find the "You're a weird guy Ace" clip from Ace Ventura. This just had to do.

    Calzaghe's half-Italian right?

Locche was Italian-Argentinian. His parents came from Sardinia, at least I know his ancestors did.

From what I read he was Italian by blood but he came from Argentina. I guess there's a pretty fair amount of people of Italian ancestry in Argentina. I wish I could speak Spanish, di, because somebody just posted a documentary in the classic forum that I was really excited to watch about Locche and it's all Spanish.

I had no idea. Boxing has always made me want to learn Spanish. I always wonder about some of my favorites if I'm not missing an enormous amount of their personality somewhere in the translation. Not to mention I'm curious about changes in their speech, in case they're showing it's time to hang 'em up. I can tell if Shane Mosley is speaking like he normally does whereas I wouldn't have an effing clue if Juan Manuel Marquez's speech was changing for instance.

i need to improve my spanish badly. i plan on majoring in latin american studies and my spanish sucks. i thought i spoke italian until i took a class and discovered my family speaks a dialect.

anyway, have you ever heard a punch drunk foreigner? someone who's punchy who doesn't speak english?

Then again, imagine if Meldrick Taylor were the same exact guy, but spoke Spanish instead of English. I think speech THAT jacked up would be recognizable in any foreign language. However, I have no idea when a non-Spanish speaker would start to notice the warning signs of a Spanish speaking fighter early as opposed to way too late.
